Question: the MTK instructions state that buffers are provided to the inner ends of the driving coaches and both ends of the centre coach.  This spaces the coaches quite far apart.

Can anyone confirm the buffer provision on these units?

Cheers

Hi Darius

The LMS diagrams as reproduced in Essery and Jenkinsons Vol 3 of LMS coaches show standard LMS 1ft 10 in buffers on all 3 coaches.

Many thanks Clive, buffers it is.

Cheers

Decals applied (apart from destination blind).

I should point out that, baring an extreme coincidence, the numbers are totally fictitious and therefore wrong.  They were what I had to hand in the decal stash.

Glazing and interiors next.

I was brought up both watching and using the slow electric lines out of Watford and used the predecessors of these units daily to go to school, cannot remember the yellow warning panels, probably because they were covered in grime, come to think of it the sides never looked green but dirty !!  Great to see it being modelled

Hi Hayfield,

You wouldn’t, by any chance, recall what colour the seats were in the 1st and 3rd (second) class compartments?

Long shot I know but I am guessing shades of green (3rd) and red (1st).

Cheers

Only 3 class when I used them, they were the standard dirty grey with brown red and green colours woven into the fabric, don't forget the pictures on the walls

Many thanks - grey it is.

You don’t by any chance remember what the pictures - just kidding.

Cheers

Brilliant work, certainly the new grills are a master stroke compared to supplied efforts - at least you have some weights for a wagon.  I have a 3mm MTK kit for and RKB on its way from 3mm Society so that should give a bit of fun.

Thanks for sharing the build and tips along the way.

Thanks Richard and hayfield.  The layout that my friend and I are building in his shed doesn’t have third (or fourth) rail installed but Rule 1 will no doubt apply.

Cheers
