It's been over-complicated this morning by Paypal thanks to their system refusing to display the simple Activity list which is, in effect, a statement of all the transactions. Instead I've had to go through all the individual notification emails and allocate the numbers from that. I will double check everything when that becomes available again. Their virtual help queue is several hours long to try and get an answer why it's not displaying.

Seems to be a general problem for PayPal this morning as my personal account is having the same problem.  Recent activity displays ok, but nothing comes up when you press "See More Activity".  Anyway, my donation sent.

I can't speak for others, but if my "numbers" didn't make it into the "hat", I would neither know nor care. This isn't about winning but giving.

If its anything like Taunton.....there is NO hat :dancer:

Im STILL working out how I ended up with a Railroad Warship :biggrin_mini2:

Strange times. Times to make you frightened, to shed a tear and hope for different days, time to make changes to our lives, a time to re-assess what is important to us individually, as communities, nations and humanity as a whole. It came running at us all faster than we could flee, hide or be ready to defend. For many of us we're left powerless and we look for the best ways to ride the waves that come our way, we can look after ourselves and we can maybe make a few other peoples' lives better but on the whole we're in the hands of those who have the tools and roles to keep our world turning.

It's a horrible time to see the traumatic scenes inside intensive care units, listen to the fear in voices, parents who can't see children, children with their hand on their grandparents' windows to say hello and every other tear-jerking drama that plays out all around us. Inside some of us though are ways to fight back with rainbows, clapping and donations; maybe it doesn't make a difference on its own other than to our wellbeing and those of the intended recipient but knowing others feel the same way can be a salve. In that spirit we wanted to do something from us as a modelling community. We normally raise some money for charity each Members' Day as a by-product of the event but we wanted to make this a foundation stone for this event, not just to be entertained but to do a little good. Therefore all proceeds will be donated to the NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Urgent Appeal.

Thank you to all those key workers; utilities and communications, food producers and distributions, logistics and public transport, the armed forces assisting, supermarkets and all their backroom people through to the security guards keeping everyone as safe as possible, our emergency services, the civil servants and even the politicians who have decisions to make, the scientists and lab staff, the businesses and schools producing PPE. None of them can be perfect but we are better for them being able to do something. All of these people need the NHS as much as we do, maybe even more.

All of those people and everyone of us and our loved ones can see the people who mean the difference between our lives and deaths. Your private healthcare doesn't buy you what our National Health Service delivers in our months of need, we could debate how much better prepared government and the health service could have been with more money, time, resources, expertise and equipment. That's for another day and not for discussion today. It is evident though that many components around the core health services need support too in addition to the emergency and that is where the charities can make a difference. That difference may be for you or I one day.

Where does the money go?

In the BBC's coverage of the magnificent fundraising by Captain Tom Moore the following explanation was given.

What we are doing is a small thank you, a small contribution, a small gesture and a small amount but we wanted to do something from our community and our trade supporters, even though they are facing concerns with the rest of us they're putting a shoulder to the wheel with us in this event.

Thank you!

Great work there on this raffle ...its a great way folk can do their but to support a vital cause in the community...

Well, I am going to neither confirm nor deny that I may or may not have made a donation or not, as the case may (or may not) be (or not be), depending on the weather (or lack of it) and the phase of the moon (or whether Jupiter is in opposition to Neptune), with the wind behind (or in front), as the case may (or may not) be, as it were (or wasn't).

Oh, and please, Blackrat, can we have a photo of the shirt that you were planning to wear this year. Hanging up on a hanger or draped over the back of a chair will do!

You never mentioned Uranus.

Yeah; sorry about that. :biggrin_mini2:

To be fair I didn't oversell it. @Brinkly may have described as something else entirely in the auction though.

Nothing to do with the fundraiser necessarily but this graph from Google Analytics of RMweb usage shows what's happening this year compared to last year - a significant increase in traffic levels at a time when traditionally we head into a BST dip.

Got the pennies in though didn't it!?

I think John @Re6/6 was bidding for stuff at one point without even knowing! :D Whole new take on "bouncing off the wall"!

why all the willy waving by those of you taking part, do we really need to know?

Given the current e-mail scam (regarding porn and webcams) discussed elsewhere on RMweb, probably best to ensure that your webcam is switched off or covered when waving any part of your anatomy.

Although I don't see how thanking Andy Y and expressing support for this great endeavour is anything to be derided.

Can't get any around here at the mo; hard times! I'm not sure a trip into the darkest Potteries can be classed as essential shopping. ;)

They've got them in Tesco but not as nice as the ones I normally get from the oatcake shop in fenton

In tough times, people often turn to their faith for comfort. We turn to RMweb, apparently......

Made me think of this :)

Andi

Reminded me of the church in my local area when before I was married. The organist/choirmaster was a frequent resident of the hostelry next door to the extent of being almost resident in the Landlord's Snug behind the bar. His favourite hymn for the choir to process out after Evensone was Ancient & Modern Revised No,34 "The Duteous Day Now Closeth". Verse 3 begins "His care he drowneth yonder"

Ironic that we need to know your opinion on it though . . .

When people are alone and suffering anxiety, a bit of community spirit in posting here , ( or clapping over waving your member), really is a harmless and actually very good for some. I live alone but have still been working so I get a bit more chat contact but others will be very lonely so seeing others supporting the NHS this way probably is very helpful. It might not be to you but like our outlook on the hobby it’s all different because we are random humans.

Are you also going to tell us which other charities you support?

Or maybe I'm missing something?

because they aren’t relevant to the topic? ;)

Mike.

Taking nothing away from Andy's superb initiative and efforts.

Well I agree with that :)

Use the ignore topic button if it irritates you, simple.

Everyone has donated knowing it’s a chance, a couple can’t enter it as it includes chance but politely asked for other ways to support it.

It’s harmless and what we do, and can afford to, donate to is our private decision so I certainly didn’t feel pressured I just thought it’s was nice.

I've not donated nothing, nor am I saying how much it wasn't  (Unlike the good captain, I be not inebriated by my own verbosity). I'm also not wearing sun glasses to view black rats shirt, but I'm concerned the image may damage my cathode ray tube. Perhaps a five minute warning could be sounded before said image is transmitted.
