Tony Burgess
Well, I was also going to post that picture and ask "Would you buy one?" It beggars the imagination that the retailer concerned would actually post such a picture. Unbelievable.. Do Hornby prefitted locos come with decoders like this? Only one thing to do - rewire it yourself and possibly make use of the other capabilities available eg forward & reverse lights.
RMweb Gold Harlequin Posted April 21, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 21, 2020 I got the same mailing and had the same reaction. It's appalling! Do Hornby wire them all up by hand in the UK?

RMweb Gold tomparryharry Posted April 21, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 21, 2020 Ah, this is the latest Hornby challenge. Firstly, poke the assembly operator in the eye with a pointy stick, and the first one past the 100 units gets a postcard of Whitstable in the rain. Productivity; it's a wonderful thing....

RMweb Premium spamcan61 Posted April 21, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 21, 2020 They've used the same scabby PCA photo for the other 4 pin decoder (didn't know there were two) as well:- https://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/shop/power-control/dcc-decoders/4-pin-decoder.html

Previously it was only available as a spare part hence the "X" product code. The new release is just it being made available as a standard "R" coded retail item. I imagine it'll probably mean the packaging upgrades from an anti static bag to a box but these days who knows...
