Yes, just to clarify this is Hornby's catalogue image and quite possibly not how the finished product looks. The actual stock is due to arrive later today. We will update the image once the stock has been booked in.

Thanks
Oliver.

The picture is of a hand modified prototype for the R7274 decoder. How the retailers have gotten hold of it I do not know, but I can assure you this is definitely not the production standard.

Being a DC Luddite, what's the problem?

This is a problem with you technology people, you're always making things complicated. Never in my day!

I think the point is the standard of solder connection of the 4 wires to the chip, Ian, which even Luddites like us can see is of an unacceptable standard.  The wires need to be trimmed closer to the insulation and re-soldered so that there is no chance of as short; there is every chance of a short as is, and probably is one between the red and yellow.  Even I can do better than this, and my soldering is a wobbly at best...

You'd think even for a prototype they'd notice crossing two bare wires surely?!

This is the picture that should have gone out.

Amazing what people can do in photoshop....

Haven't fixed the dodgy kinks in the wires though.
