All the Warships had brilliant names, maybe D800 excepted, but I suppose theres nothing fundamentally wrong with the name, Brian !

And perhaps D812 wasnt so inspirational. But who could fail to be impressed by a train hailed by Rapid, Thruster or Vanquisher?

I can still recite all the names from D800 to D870,,,,,

Cracking names Phil.  It took me a long time to accept the 50s when they gave them warship names in 78.  (Love any British built diesel traction now, but soft spot for hydraulics - and 46s, and 25s).

Always thought the Western named 47s had panache too.  I mean, Thor, Odin, Titan, Cyclops, Mammoth,etc...cracking.

D1662 IKB was a favourite too.  Add in the Westerns and that made an impression on me.  Still think the sight of a motorail train with 16 bogies on, blasting through Dawlish was hard to beat. (Until the up St Erth to Kenny O milk blasted the other way out of Kennaway tunnel with a D1000 at the front).

Happy days.  Still love Abbotswood by the way - inspirational.

Best regards

Happy days for sure! And yes 47s were pretty good too...

Thanks for the kind comments - we will be back with Mk2, getting so many projects completed with COVID isolation....

Cheers

Phil
