benjy83
Hi All, Sorry if this is the wrong thread! I think it best fits here... I'm looking at building a simple signal box as my first foray into scratchbuilding. I've managed to work out almost all of the dimensions for a Type 4 RSCo. Signal Box, based on the box at Swinton (Manchester), apart from the lower windows below the main sash windows at on the upper part of the cabin. Does anyone know how big they were in ft/inches? I think they are 2' 2¾" wide, with ¾" sash bars in the middle (based on scans in an LYR Signalling book I have), but the height of the windows I can't find anywhere. I've circled them in red on the picture attached, which I found a good picture of the box here on RMweb by Jon F: Any help great apprecated! Thanks, Ben
SP Steve
Dug out my copy of "The Signal Box - A Pictorial History & Guide To Designs" which features a 4mm scale drawing of a RSCo (Size 11) box). Measuring with caliper gauge gives a height of 7mm (1' 9"). Added image to better indicate where I took the measurement from.
