Good moaning from a rather warm Charente.  I managed to get another 200+ slides scanned yesterday in between other tasks. I've now got slides up to mid August 2005 and negatives up to 2008 unless I discover some more.  Anyway the Tardis is still in 1999 and we are at Euston during it's reconstruction. 90002 is waiting to head north.

567058373_Slides1999-A004.jpg.dbb06805b84e706564950f8e0f2979a9.jpg

And then a more general view with 3 90's, 2 in Virgin and 1 in Intercity livery plus an 87.  Thanks to those who pointed my mistake out

566211341_Slides1999-A005.jpg.2c5f34ce6a2098a12b533d15e0eba4b2.jpg

Next an oddball that loaded itself without any intervention from me. Shortly after the London trip we went across the pond and here is what I think is an Alco FPA4 on the Nappa Valley wine train heading north up the valley whilst the ladies were in a clothes shop.

175286788_Slides1999-A009.jpg.1f0b062d3bfb1cc2fc65f24c030ca370.jpg

Back from the US and Canada and off to Ipswich with my mate Keith and a 66 heading onto the stabling point.

378344188_Slides1999-D004.jpg.8eea4ea17d48cb5df5c6ca4d16a99fb2.jpg

Then an 86 pulled in in the Anglia livery.

499138738_Slides1999-D005.jpg.4b094c57877aeebeeeac03fb1c21f772.jpg

And finally a 90 heading to stable.

114447345_Slides1999-D006.jpg.6f049a1df294cf19e4b03c1af8d9e260.jpg

That's it for today  folks.   Time to head for the market and a Barbecue.

Good afternoon from a rather warm Charente.  However the pool is nice and warm and may well get used later.  However the Tardis is still in the UK and it's definitely a bit cooler.

First off, what was probably a lunchtime session at Monk Fryston, the southern exit from the Gascoigne Wood complex.   Here a 60 heads south with a rake of MGR's.

805847814_Slides1999-D007.jpg.cf42c4bbf853680f21c3eefe24b69f9b.jpg

That was followed by 66112 which was hauling a rake of the ex National Power hoppers.

473804782_Slides1999-D008.jpg.8961e15b166db2178bbfdc27c4aa9629.jpg

Then a 56 in Trainsrail livery headed north into Gas Wood with empty MGR's.

1081060651_Slides1999-D009.jpg.e192921a06a9031ab1685b536feecd3e.jpg

Now we head down to Leeds, almost certainly between Christmas and New Year when most of the station was shut IIRC for the changeover of the signalling from the old Leeds Power box to York and also major track alterations as part of the rebuilding project.  Great efforts were made to keep a service running and one of the best ideas was Leeds Whitehall Platform on the the single track, Wellington curve. It was bidirectionally signalled and trains ran to Sheffield in both directions from the platform with a very intensive service and a bus shuttle to the city centre.  Here is a general view from the platform with much activity in the background with Whitehall curve being widened from 4 to 6 tracks.

504104566_Slides1999-D011.jpg.7bee0ba9ca2688294252163822dc2a33.jpg

A 308 was heading out and very shortly a 144 ran in from a Sheffield via Wakefield working.

1926410658_Slides1999-D013.jpg.1c045307e9eeeffbebf80bb4feb515d7.jpg

Here is the 144 ready to head out to Sheffield, it must have reversed in the platform.

1301326596_Slides1999-D014.jpg.8bc5cd6f18b3abdbe6974695b297872b.jpg

The platform wasn't open for long and I believe that it was modular and put into store for possible future use.

We are still at Whitehall platform.  I think it must have been roundabout the 27th December. First a working to Manchester Airport that must have come round via Castleford.

1491280813_Slides1999-D015.jpg.1022c8d6ca5cc10dff513d15b3443450.jpg

Next another 158, this time a WY Metro one heading south.  The service was intensive.

2050103324_Slides1999-D017.jpg.c4c56d20b6f8ffa58fae66b8465e210a.jpg

Then off to Donny for an afternoon a few weeks later.  First a 67 on a parcels working heading south.

1132549552_Slides2000-B017.jpg.b04069e10b7a4d59620e94647cd04571.jpg

Then a GNER 91 set heading north.

533035728_Slides2000-B019.jpg.13a939ecb228840ca4ba43f6377ed440.jpg

And a set of 325's heading south.

1735793382_Slides2000-B020.jpg.81e9f7cff32be883bb4eab521c7d65ac.jpg

Then a GNER liveried NoL Eurostar probably heading towards Leeds

315448117_Slides2000-B021.jpg.aa04b464be74c5aaf6678e1b78d4d61d.jpg

They were very comfortable trains to ride in.

I've managed over 250 slides today in between other tasks and am now up to 2007. I've even found, at the other end of the shed, a box of slides from 2008 so they will be done in due course. I am nearing the end of the scanning but have plenty of digital photos from 2008 onwards.

Pretty sure that is half sets 3301 and 3302, as the other four half sets that were in GNER colours all carried names in panels on the grilles.

Good evening, just, it's very warm here but some more scanning has been done.  To begin with we are still at Doncaster with a southbound 66 on an intermodal.

913657275_Slides2000-B022.jpg.88e62c03f7c13514911b25994f64e60b.jpg

Then the NoL Eurostar returned south.

20675351_Slides2000-B023.jpg.54e72bcb83e722cf659c7c170af2c721.jpg

Then back to the old favourite of Wandsworth Road and what I think is 59102 heading north.

551426555_Slides2000-B025.jpg.b129b483112a678ac9695204c7ab01da.jpg

Then a Eurostar headed south towards the Tunnel, with workers trimming the foliage trackside.

1226330161_Slides2000-B026.jpg.eed44e088aebe9cdbee3d55a35d6d2dd.jpg

Next another 66 at Euston as the reconstruction continued.

1111781640_Slides2000-B027.jpg.b8b49044f8dceaabc813c6e7ef4ed12f.jpg

And finally, no prizes for guessing this location. It's early August and we were staying with

friends in Somerset so ended up at Dawlish one evening and obligingly a 47 came through.

1010527483_Slides2000-C009.jpg.f436f407147564625327389860546236.jpg

that 325 using the crossing at doncaster must be going to the railnet platforms at doncaster. Cannot think of any other reason for a electric train to use the crossing, as the other use for it is for the non electric sheffield lines.

I wondered if that was the case.

Good evening, it's been a bit damp here today but only the sea was damp at Dawlish in early August 2000. I don't remember spending a lot of time their that day but there were plenty of trains. It's the only time that I've ever visited Dawlish though I've passed through on the train a few times.  Another HST

1067354611_Slides2000-C011.jpg.8d8b77d409ec96f91f39256e73f024b7.jpg

Then a bit closer.

1530762152_Slides2000-C012.jpg.8886698c4cac74a6a12e3b7609d9db43.jpg

Followed soon after by a 158.

998272661_Slides2000-C015.jpg.250541ae9b7784ee1f2f2149ee54647c.jpg

Then a walk along the sea wall and another HST in another livery.

1098686539_Slides2000-C016.jpg.39a47bf4981c4cbe21fccbcab7e35c0f.jpg

Finally a northbound and a 47 putting on the power.

1040262991_Slides2000-C017.jpg.5b39d71e504e42ed3c45bf7a453352dd.jpg

Then finally a 159 heading North.

1318450876_Slides2000-C019.jpg.2ef0f3c32954d07b03f3eea0a8004309.jpg

Plenty of trains in a classic spot.

Good evening again.  I've been sorting some more slides that had already been scanned today and found some pictures that brought back a real memory.   I think it's worth putting on. in late 2007 I went to El Salvador with a church group to help build a house. One of our hosts had railway connections and after being mothballed for several years a commuter service had just restarted on the railway. Christmas Eve I was taken out and rode a commuter train out to the then terminus and back into San Salvador station. I was even offered a cab ride and here is my steed that day, an 800hp GM BB complete with heavily armed police officer in the cab as it ran round. A great time was had so I thought I share it.

635338277_2007-ES9015.jpg.fec3301b71e83780bae0f1ae0c674004.jpg

Anyway back to 2000 and as well as the day at Dawlish we went to the West Somerset railway and I saw a green kettle.  Not sure what it was but it looked in good nick,

1481252669_Slides2000-C021.jpg.73dd3c2f53a88aefce056e0d18928e6e.jpg

We then move on to Crewe in 2001 and a couple of 175's in the north end bays.

1931293985_Slides2001-A008.jpg.52187da4054922d76e9011a9c7b648c4.jpg

Then to Doncaster on a grey day and a 47 heads through the station.

1342895841_Slides2001-A011.jpg.df99c067179c5c63aae73f1eed448841.jpg

As it headed north I realised it was in the RES livery.

1521890604_Slides2001-A012.jpg.6659e7468003f552aa3b05cbae62fa8b.jpg

And finally a 66 on some hoppers.  I'm not sure of the location but thin it's at the north end of Doncaster.

331069632_Slides2001-A014.jpg.8b4fbd81c05dd25fb23ec4baa4db703b.jpg

Good morning from the Charente.   No pictures yesterday as I was out most of the day watching trains. A report has been uploaded on my moves at Limoges thread on the French railways section.  Anyway time for some more from the UK. We begin, whilst still at Doncaster early in 2001 with a 170 in the bay. I can't remember what that livery was.

1744358935_Slides2001-A018.jpg.f1f0b5f29d19021e6a82050ed64c350d.jpg

Then a rather cold Leeds with a photo from Whitehall platform with much work going on.

1642343150_Slides2001-A021.jpg.45c84e8a0ed1e5dc88c8b0a4fdb01946.jpg

And the 308's were still coexisting with the 333's though I seem to remember they were withdrawn rather suddenly due to exploding High Voltage cables.

2041275821_Slides2001-A022.jpg.91dc65f95fcf908aa49cf613926749e7.jpg

Then a trip to London and one of the 59/2's in it's new livery heading through Ealing Broadway.

1575666303_Slides2001-B027.jpg.e79c590af01907c49bee82c28b1ded8e.jpg

Clapham Junction with a 458, a 442 and I think a 4 Vep in the background.

1318241588_Slides2001-B028.jpg.0aff129ba7adcce32baf47c4a8936279.jpg

And finally, IIRC a 460 or Darth Vader, now converted to 458/1's I think.

740364061_Slides2001-B030.jpg.6d761823654bd074fe693d658bc46089.jpg

Hopefully some more tomorrow.

That is the goods loops behind doncaster station. Wabtec/rfs/whatever the owning group are called this week is just behind the MGRs. The RES 47 must be taking cripples for repair to knottingly.

Hi Jamie

The 170 is in Anglia railways livery,  they were used by Hull trains when it first started so it may had something to do with that

Thanks for that. I have memory that it was a service to Cambridge or Ipswich. It's in the south facing bay but it might well be my memory that's playing tricks.

I may be wrong as its nearly twenty years ago but I don't think they got involved with services into Anglia

There used to be services to Cambridge from that platform which went via the joint but part of it shut in 82

Yes I remember catching those services in the 60's to get to Norwich. I remember a 31 hauling 4 coaches I think. The 170 must have been there for something to do with Hull Trains, possibly crew training. Thanks.

Hull Trains borrowed a few from Anglia until they got their own for the Hull - KX services

This is the livery I think you saw, taken near Carlton on Trent in 2004 just before HT received their new stock.

They were all part of the same company as was GB railfreight.  Even though I worked for GB I cant remember the exact company may have been GB railways

Good morning from a rather wet and cold Charente.   First of all one more from the London trip that got missed.

A class 73, which I think is at East Croydon on a Gatex.

962548798_Slides2001-B031.jpg.c5bc18bbfb3c26a19496f9778c41cbc9.jpg

We then head for 2002 and Birmingham New Street with two Virgin 47's on Cross Country Services. My friend's daughter had joined Virgin as a Train Manager and hated what she called a Coach and Horses set as she had to couple and uncouple them.

698305102_Slides2002-A001.jpg.2b73196b4c75562207aa7e08ca3277b9.jpg

Then the new order in the form of the Voyagers.

2100822849_Slides2002-A002.jpg.252fbf63f26a3d0feb459bac8e17c35e.jpg

The Voyagers were i think delivered to a new depot at Crofton near Wakefield built on the site of the old PWay yard.  Initially it was supposed to be temporary but is still going as a maintenance and stabling depot. Here are a few shots of the method of accessing the depot. Trains arrived from Wakefield Kirkgate.

1612946509_Slides2002-A004.jpg.f78205c064352832f2315dd878f44429.jpg

Then run into a headshunt just past the level crossing.

1701705814_Slides2002-A005.jpg.9fb625395a7d805011ceecc958ee43fd.jpg

Before reversing into the depot.

1871586384_Slides2002-A006.jpg.c1d9990d5d809c47d02bd1e35bd5fd00.jpg

Hopefully some more tomorrow.
