Yes it is.  I got the ID of the tram wrong. It turns out there were two trams at the bus garage. Horse tram 53, a 4 wheeler which is now at the Scottish bus museum and bogie cable tram 226 which was in 2 halves.  I'm not sure where the cable tram is now.

Good afternoon from a sunny place.   It's still 4th June 2009 and we are on the Ratty. Beth and I were being hauled by River Irt my favourite loco. The driver is George Staniforth who has a lot to answer for.  I used be be George's regular guard as a volunteer. Beth and I had been out drinking with him the night that I proposed.

Shortly afterwards we went to Spain and on the way back flew right over Leeds. I was rather pleased with this shot of Holbeck Shed in the days before drones.

Then the old NER roundhouse at Wellington bridge. It closed when Neville Hill was opened and is now a vehicle hire depot. Both of these taken 28th June.

The next one is my layout of Long Preston in Long Preston village Hall.  We were invited to display part of the layout there by the village historical group.   It was a great weekend even though we could only run shuttle services up and down thought the station.

The station area incorporating the two bridges is now on permanent display there.   Apparently the WI insist on having the curtains drawn back and the lights on during their meetings. This was 5th July.

We then move on to Wakefield Kirkgate and what can only be described as a perfect summer evening.   England were thrashing Australia at cricket at the Oval, and this lovely example of Stanier's most magnificent creations was in the evening sun, 21st August. How much closer to heaven could you get.

Good evening to you all whilst I watch the sunset.  With my love for all things Duchess shaped, no apologies for another shot of Sutherland setting off from Wakefield Kirkgate.

That was the 21st August.  6 days later on the 27th Keith and I were heading south to do various lines south west of London. First off a visit to St Pancras to see the 395's.

Then via Alton and Aldershot to Guildford. where this 455/7 was waiting in the platform.

Then a 458 came in on the service via Staines.

Followed by a 444 on a Portsmouth service.

Good evening from a dark Charente. We are still in London on 27-8-2009.  After being south of the river for the morning and early afternoon we headed north to Willesden Junction.  A 56 was heading towards the West London Line past the scrap yard.

Then a 378 came along from Clapham Junction heading East.

Whilst a 321 in what I think was Silverlink livery headed north.

We then skip forward to the 7th October and I had hear that something special was heading north from Leeds so headed down to Armley Road as what I think is a Northern 156 headed out towards Harrogate.

Then what I was waiting for and my first sight of Tornado.  I've never been a great fan of East Coast Pacifics and never knowingly saw an A1 but I thought that she looked rather nice and a magnificent achievement by the team that raised the money and built her.

Someone else probably has more why and wherefore than me but they did cause a little interest when they occasionally turned up on a Leeds-Nottingham service.

Thanks for that. I did have a think about it being a 153 leading. I think that the reason the West Yorks batch stayed as 155's was because they were owned by WY Metro who wanted to keep them as complete units. The remainder were owned by BR.

Good evening.   Starting wing tonight with another of Tornado, doing what it was built to do.

Then we move on to the 20th October and another day out to Glasgow. Our first destination was Lanark which seemed a fairly bleak place.

However there was some sort of track machine in the other platform to add interest.

We then set off to do the Hamilton Circle. but I didn't get any photos there.

However Hamilton was devoid of any obvious Academicals but we did find proof that the missing link is alive and breeding in the area, at least three specimens were on the platform.   Then it was back to Central where a 185 was coming in from Manchester.

Good morning all.  Some more pictures today.

First one last one from the Scottish trip. The station name ends in College but I would appreciate help with the rest of it.

Next, not strictly railway related but at this time I was working on the restoration of Leeds horse tram no 107 (now at Crich)  we had to have all the running gear made and the wheels were chilled cast iron to a design by Millers of Edinburgh.  The Leeds Transport Historical Society, who were doing the restoration, had a pattern made and 4 wheels cast by a foundry in Huddersfield.   Here the four wheels are ready for collection.

Next we move on to the 10th December and a trip to Corby to ride the line to Kettering. Whilst waiting for our train a freight headed south.  I think it looks a bit different now.

Then on from Kettering to what I think is Stafford and a nice set of DRS locos heading north.

It was definitely down in the south east and yes it does look like Coatbridge before College.  Thanks,

Yes, it is indeed Whifflet, looking in the Up direction (south) towards Mossend Yard. The line on the left is the connection towards Sunnyside Jc and the Class 156 is doing the 3-way shunt which at that time, due to the signalling arrangements, was necessary for the Glasgow Central/Whifflet services to reverse. At one time these trains reversed at Burnhouse, the north end of Mossend Yard, but due to toilet waste being deposited on the track there this practice was abandoned. Before that however, and when the service was still operated by Class 101 DMUs, a set caught fire at Burnhouse early one morning, blazing so fiercely that the OLE melted ! Not what you want when coming for early shift in Control.....

Thanks for all the input that identified Whifflet.   A few more for today. First three more from Stafford, 10th December 2009. First another shot of the dead 90 being towed by the three 37's.

Then to a rather chilly Midland Road in Leeds 12th December 09 and a line up of 66's with a 70 amongst them.

Good evening from a rather dark Charente.  More delving into disorganised files has found some more photos from 2010. March 2010 I took my Long Preston Layout to the Redruth show. One evening we caught the train down to Penzance and of course I had to photograph the highest numbered milepost on the  Great Way Round's system.

Then looking back at the train shed with a 150/2.

Then an HST ran in.

in Mid May we had a week in South Wales near that unpronounceable Castle  Drswyllyn or something like that. We had a day out on the Gower peninsula and went down to the former ammunition factory site which was served by an electrified tramway from the main line.  there were standard and narrow gauge tracks embedded in the concrete. There was also a model engineers track and I had a good chat with them.

Looks as though it's Pembrey Country Park, about half-way between Pembrey and Burry Port, and Kidwelly stations. It's on the opposite side of the Burry Estuary to the Gower. If you can see one from the other, it's going to rain, if you can't, it's already started.

Good evening after a busy couple of days.

These are from a trip to Warrington on 18th May 2010. First off a Pendelino heading north

Then a 175 coming, I think from Chester.

Then a 66 in a strange livery came into view with an intermodal.

Turned out to be DRS's 66414  with a very appropriate name, James the Engine.

Then another 66 in the shortlived Fastline livery.  Big Jim would probably recognise it. I believe that they went under when Jarvis collapsed.

Good evening a few more for tonight.   First a seasonal shot from my Long  Preston Layout.  We don't need to run it down here at the moment. The Hellifield twins as they were known, built on the frames of two bogie 'watercart' tenders originally fitted to the early compounds before water troughs were introduced.

Then we move forward to 2011 on the 29th March at Glasgow Central.

A test train with two 37's and a single test coach appeared, obviously checking the overhead.
