jonnygangsta
Hi everyone, hope lockdown isn't causing people too many issues... Anyway back on to topic, I am planning my first industrial oo layout and I am looking at basing it on St Ebbe's Gasworks. This interesting prototype was based to the west of Oxford, a spur, only a few hundred yards off the mainline. I was planning to model it in the late crest BR period as it was not decommissioned until the early 60's. I have some web info and track diagrams. It is laid out in an "Y" shape which should provide plenty of interest with the mainline in the background. Any info and thoughts from the wider world who have attempted this type of layout would be greatly appreciated. I would love advice on everything including Gasometers, Retorts, locos, wagons, tankers etc.... Thanks in anticipation! Jon
Barclay
Hi in volume 2 of Peter Denny's Wild Swan book(s) on Buckingham, he devotes about 7 pages to the gasworks, if that's any help.
