Forced perspective mini-diorama.

Hello all,

 

I would like to make force perspective mini-diorama. Subject will be a street and a narrow gauge will cross it. I would like to have a OO9 locomotive and in the background 1/87 cars and trucks.

Is there any tutorial about force perspective? Is there any calculations that I need to do in regards with distancing the models? Is the any angle that I need to apply to the road?

I think this more art than science. Be prepared to make up lots of mock up models. There will be plenty of art tutorials on YouTube about perspective and backgrounds, but our trick is to place bridges or buildings in such a way that "vanishing point" is always round a corner.

Have a look in Railway Modeller April 1962, when something very similar to your idea was described, using several different scale models positioned to heighten the illusion of the vanishing points.
