TrainzBrainz23
How could the ICE 1 and X2000 demo trains operate on the Amtrak NEC when they operate at 15 kV 16.7 Hz AC and 25 kV 50 Hz AC and the NEC uses 25 kV at 60 Hz AC, 12.5 kV at 60 Hz AC, and 12 kV at 25 Hz AC? They would have simply changed the internal stuff to support the required voltage/frequency combinations (this assumes that back then the relevant stuff couldn't handle those ranges automatically). Allegheny1600
I knew the ICE had been hauled by repainted F69 diesel locos - that was for the parts of the tour that were not under catenary. Siemens certainly did adjust the voltage in the power cars, as related here: http://www.ice-fansite.com/index.php/ice-baureihen/ice-1/94-ice-1-praesentationsfahrten-in-den-usa All in German, naturally but Google seems to do a decent job of translating the text, for me on my old Vista system anyways. My dear late friend Steve actually rode this train on the NEC, I remember his pictures. It would make a great model if you have plenty of room!
