woodenhead
Seems Ribblehead needs some more work to keep it up. Well it is almost 150 years old! Good to see that this time it's not BR using it as an excuse to close the line but NR seeing it has a piece of historical architecture and tastefully fixing it https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-52487173 1 2

Bomag
Its a gravity structure so will stand up to most things without any need for work; being able to take freight trains is a bit different. Probably the most important thing is the drainage, if they cannot maintain the drainage then all the cemetitious bits the have put in over the years won't last. NR isn't alone in this but maintaining what you have is better than having to fix things.
RMweb Gold 96701 Posted May 9, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 9, 2020 It was poor waterproofing and drainage that almost did for it last time. Water doesn't do limestone any good at all.
