RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted November 13, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 13, 2020 painted 3D N gauge cabin . White primer black marker pen and a touch of a red pen for bircks - but I will add a plasticard strip or perhaps paper as an overlay . Windows part glazed with canopy glue , where glazing bars failed I will make the window an open one! roof tin is a light dusting of Halford`s bauxite/ red primer, but tin ranout better coverage on rear. Certainly makes the 2 foot rule as a model, an etched brass one could well be much sharper but this a good place to start. 2
RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted November 15, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 15, 2020 I have just done some dramatic surgery on my N scale signal box to make it into a platform mounted version. Seems to have worked so far....
RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted November 16, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 16, 2020 Certainly dramatic! On mine I used a bucket of filler on the roof and plan to add Redutex stick on slates but currently 150 miles from it ! so look forward to see how yours gets on. Ratio guttering pack to be added at some point. Robert
RMweb Premium SHerr Posted November 16, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 16, 2020 I’ve noticed today that Pop Ups website is showing some new kits. A 00 gauge GNSR signal box and Rannoch Station and also some existing kits in O gauge.
RMweb Premium Ian R. Weeks Posted November 17, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 17, 2020 Have spent some time today and yesterday on the Resin engine shed. The window trial blanks arrived from York modelmaking and proved almost spot on so can not wait for the finished items. As I hope to have the option of lighting in the future I have drilled the blank window in the presumbed toilet deeper and created a new window opening from the inside of the shed to act as a " light tunnel" . Slow drilling so as not to melt the resin. Now the real reason for this post. I am procedeing with the painting experiments and looks promising but will prove a long job! Is there any chance / precedent that these sheds were whitewashed inside to improve the light environment for the staff. I ask this more in hope than expectation . It would save a lot of work . Thanks Ian
Ben Alder
Yes most were whitewashed inside.

RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted November 22, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 22, 2020 Hi just to show Pop- up buildings I have started a layout build thread but here is a pic of the general view so far, complete Highland range shown! 7
RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted December 17, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 17, 2020 Just seen a Facebook post from them advertising a Highland Railway platform shelter building in OO and O that looks interesting. May take one or two in N if the shrink ray can work...
RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted December 17, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 17, 2020 John, Saw that too, an N one might be a 3D print - signal cabin very good - In cleaning up I did break two glaxing bars so made those the open ones ! Possibly checking with N brass loco for etched frames would be a way forward but it does look good. Perhaps in late January as Pop are moving from Moray coast to Edinburgh area to be with family and start , I think the gentle hand over of business to the next generation! and allow quality family time - which sounds an ideal business plan. It’s not on the main website yet but it looks possibly more Great North of Scotland than Highland Railway mainly due to horizontal timbers rather than vertical and may be based on Longmorn. I did suggest through BenAlder that they complemented the existing kits but maybe they were already on with it if it’s out this quick. Anyway I’m happy with what I’ve made but it looks another nice addition. 1
RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted December 17, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 17, 2020 Tidy work and given the weather a good idea ! Low relief will take less to heat but social distancing ...
definate maybe
A nice looking Aberdour station is now showing on their website as well. the range is expanding nicely! take care/ stay safe. Mark
Ben Alder
I am awaiting a trial shelter kit with seperate glazing made from a thinner ply which should improve these kits if it all works out. I'll keep you posted.... From what I understand of the main range he is expanding and improving it with a lot of full colour printing , and as the prime object of the venture is supporting underprivileged children in S America I don't think he is planning running it down. Family is the main drive south plus bigger premises and a side effect will hopefully get the 3D side of things more fully established as well.
RMweb Premium SHerr Posted December 17, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 17, 2020 Good to see they are expanding and looking to make improvements, I can’t see the Aberdour station on the website, where is it listed?

RMweb Gold slow8dirty Posted February 7, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 7, 2021 This may be of interest to somebody . Some close up pics of the Rannoch kit assembled dry so I can gauge what needs to be done to bring it up to scratch. Literally fell together during the course of a particularly undemanding Zoom meeting! A lot to do cladding and filling wise, also as others have noted, the windows; but very impressed with the design of it. 6
RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted February 7, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 7, 2021 Do the kits come with any assembly instructions now? That was the one disappointing thing I found about my signal box kit a while back.
RMweb Gold slow8dirty Posted February 7, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 7, 2021 The 2 kits I had do. Very common sense pictured steps. It does just fall together tbh.
RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted February 7, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 7, 2021 Hi John, All of mine have come with a header sheet and a heavy green paper slip the header had photo based instructions . so perhaps that was a one off? Ben Alder
The supplied roofing is more than passable as it is - just fill in the tabs and scribe the courses. They also do a plain roof sheet. Here is a shot of a modified long shed I built last year with the kit roof. 4 1
RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted February 8, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 8, 2021 I love the stone work on the Shed but have struggled to find a 2mm version , Redutex do a nearish version as a dry stone wall coded Rtx N21 148PL122 at DCC supplies. It is self adhesive and have used on the platform faces as these are hardly seen. It will be a case of painting carefully. Robert

Do you have outline dimensions? It’s the one thing missing from the website that would be useful.

The embossed effect would probably pass muster in the smaller size.

The Gable walls are 9cm long , with the building itself 43cm long. Width of the actual building underneath is 4.5cm, 6cm at the bay windows.
