I doubt the waitees' lost sales bother B much.  We have alternatives; we can renumber the wagons ourselves with 3rd party retrofit transfers, not let it bother us, or do without.  But it probably costs them nothing to specify different numbers with each batch order from China, and does no harm to sales.  I have a total of 11 Baccy 16t steel minerals in a small mineral fleet for a BLT, and all have different factory applied numbers over a range of liveries, welded doors, etc.  I'd have most likely bought them anyway, but the different numbers have meant I have saved money on transfers, helped by alternative numbers being provided by Parkside kit transfer sheets.
