I’ve decided to build a single track traverser at the end of my fiddle yard, to run my locos round their trains without having to physically remove them from the layout.
The only snag is I have no idea how to build a traverser!
Any help you guys can give would be fantastic!

I've seen a simple cassette sytem for loco moves.

The exact design and construction may depend a bit on the way that you have constructed the fiddleyard. So a picture of that may help us.

Worth mentioning that some of the lasercut baseboard kit manufacturers do traversers.

Possibly, not sure how much space either side of the track they need though

Chris

Just measured mine,  its  approx. 12 1/4" /  310mm   in length.    Hope this helps.

* overall width of loco lift is 2 1/4"

I’m listening

What I saw was a 3 sided trough with an end panel to stop runaways.  Flying lead to power the track and brass wire and tube alignment.  Slide the cassette to selected track push the pins into the tube, drive on, move repeat, drive off.

Why is it you only find a use for something AFTER youve thrown it out:

I must have got rid of at least three printers over the years.
