Don't fall into the trap of building one of each Ratio kit. Your two brake-ended carriages should be of the same type.

While we are on the subject of building these right would there be any particular modifications required to the kits to represent a set of these in 1950s form?

Thanks - based on the very useful information you posted earlier my plan is to build two 4-compartment brake thirds, an all third, and a composite (from the all-first kit).

Removal of the lower step-boards, leaving the frame trussing exposed; also footboards removed from the bogies except at the brake ends; battery boxes - and hence no lamp tops, just ventilators, on the roof - all per those shots from the Keighley film.

Article on building these in the current Model Rail (issue 284 March).

Not a build of an authentic MR carriage in year 19XX but of a generic coach in use as a NCB workmans train.

it might be of use to those building the kits though as it covers things like adding handrails, seats, brakes, etc. Also has a method of making it so the body is separate from the chassis so you can get access to the interior.
