Centre coach Body construction completed.  Body primed and test fitted to chassis.  I have used Bachmann B4 bogies for the centre and driving trailer coaches.

The buffers need removing between the coaches in the set as they had fixed couplings with drop and buffers at the outer ends only.

I know.  Haven’t got to that stage yet.

Guess who has been reading his copy of the mark2, the coach that launched intercity LOL

Nice.  I’ve been looking at Lima33’s great photos on the Class 80 thread on the Irish Railways page and in his Flickr pages.

Cheers

I always thought the non motored driving coach was the mk2 DMU BR never built. Pity BR never built some of these for their own use.

I had wondered about doing one of mine in the White and blue BR dmu livery, along with a 141 in BR blue ...

Centre coach window frames painted. That’s enough frame painting for one day.

I have noticed that there is a slight error in the etched sides in so far as the lower edge of the toilet windows in the centre and driving trailer coaches should be slightly higher than the regular windows. There is no easy way to correct this as far as I can see so I have left the windows “as etched”.

Cheers

This is a lot easier than the cocktail stick and gold enamel paint method I used previously.  I just need to remember to give the gold “ink” time to dry before handling the coaches to avoid leaving gold fingerprints on the paintwork...

Funny I have been reading the very same book looking at 2D BFK roofs ready to stick the 3 vents on.

Had an interesting read about both the DEMUs and the CIE stock.
