Are you going to include the windmill?

David

I'm in two minds, I have a windmill but I'm trying to just model the station area so realistically it wouldn't be seen in this area. Adding it makes it feel like a train set - not sure if that makes sense? I also have a Thomas the Tank layout under construction so might save the windmill for that. Not sure...

This is brilliant! What a great subject for a layout and you've absolutely nailed those structures.

Thanks Corbs, I built the buildings a few years ago for my first attempt at Buggleskelly but a house move meant I had to start again- thankfully I had not glued them down!

I've been quiet for a while because I've been trying out some 3D modelling and 3D printing to create Gladstone, the decrepit old engine from Oh, Mr. Porter!

This 1:76 scale model was designed on Tinkercad and printed with the Anycubic Photon resin 3D printer. The chassis is not prototypical so as soon as I'm able to easily source a 2-4-0 basis I will redesign to fit, but I'm happy with the Electortren basis for now.

If you'd like to see Gladstone in action I've uploaded a video to YouTube here.  Thanks, Tom

The farmers come for his pigs, Where are they ?

Roxey mouldings does a kit for Gladstone. It was one of a pair used on the Kent and East Sussex Light Railway.

But you probably already know that and I expect that yours costs a considerably lot less.

Keep up the good work. You're definitely not wastin' your time.

All the best

Thanks Ray, I looked at the Roxey kit but the chassis is no longer produced for it, and she was altered so much for the film (cab cut down, new chimney) it made more sense to design the loco from scratch (following the plans from the KESR).  In the end I had to buy a 3D printer which wasn't cheap, but I enjoyed learning 3D design so I will definitely make use of it in future projects.

And every night, when the moon gives light, the ghost of the miller is seen
As he walks the track with a sack on his back, down to the Black Borheen
And the mill wheels turn though the night is still, and the elf lights flash from the ruined mill
He haunts the station, he haunts the hill and the land that lies between!
