Markmiller2008
Work continues on the layout, more concrete hard standing has gone down. A Knightwing water tower and fuel tank have appeared which will be painted a weathered soon. A Goods shed from in the greenwood laser has appeared and is starting to take shape. My three JSModels kits have arrived too so they will be built over time. oh and a possible exhibition for the layout in April 2021! Markmiller2008
Did some more work on the Goods shed, painted most of it apart from the roof panels as I’m out of grey paint currently, the upstairs of the goods shed also needs detailing before the roof is glued in place. The items next to the engine neck have been painted and some more ballast and greenery added.
Markmiller2008
Some more progress on the layout although at a slower pace this week. ive painted and weathered the water tower along with the fuel tank. Some more greenery has been added to various places and some more ash ballast. The goods shed is progressing quite well however it’s now ground to a halt as I’ve run out of grey paint. A new addition has appeared.........ill cover this in another post. Mark
Markmiller2008
So back at the start of Lockdown the reason I started thinking about the layout was because I had seen some absolutely brilliant laser cut kits. Fast forwards three months and I received three Low Relief Factory backs from @jrb at JSModels which I’ve started to build today. The kit goes together very well and I very much enjoyed building it. Markmiller2008
Kit Number two was built today and painted up, now stands pride of place next to number one factory. I’ve also completed a Parkside Palvan over the last few days, got a couple more Wagon kits to build also. Mark
Markmiller2008
Just a couple of photos today no real progress. Mark
Markmiller2008
Couple of additions the layout, some WWS clumps and some lettering on one of the Factory backs. Mark
Markmiller2008
Hi all I’ve started to fit SEEP point motors in the last few days, I had a stash of them taken off an old layout along with two Digitrax DS52 accessory decoders, this has meant that powering the point motors has cost me a grand total of £25 for the layout which is a third DS52, certainly progressing well although the scenics has taken a temporary halt waiting for some supplies. Markmiller2008
Hi all Not much work this week on the layout but there’s a stash of exciting things arriving tomorrow, so just an overall view of the layout and a couple of locos have had their dock working discs added which also correspond to their loco numbers. Mark
Markmiller2008
Two new locos have appeared this week, a Hornby B2 Peckett in NCB blue (which has already had the NCB logos removed (if anyone knows a colour match for the Hornby NCB blue let me know as the printing was more stubborn than I thought!) Also the layout is looking far more substantially complete on the main board now that I’ve built and started to paint the third low relief building, just an 11cm gap to fill with something now. the hard standing underneath the warehouse was completed last night and just needs a Coat of Deck tan and then a little weathering. Markmiller2008
It’s all been rather quiet recently on the layout building, some more painting and concrete sheets have been put down but otherwise it’s slow progress.
Markmiller2008
Thanks David it’s coming along nicely.
Markmiller2008
I have been really quiet recently and not actually done a great deal on the layout. I have however added some Modelu drain pipes using plastistruct and the Modelu parts onto one of the JSModels low relief buildings Mark

Markmiller2008
Small steps on the layout in the last few weeks The naff looking conveyor has been replaced by a new and improved version using parts from a Old Dapol Footbridge i had in my bits box. ( I really must look at cutting that fiddle yard hole better! ) Some fencing has been put up along the front of the low relief buildings to seperate the railway with the hardstanding and some more WWS grass clumps added. Courtesy of @jrb at JSModels, i have now had a custom building kit made up for the area to the left of the lone low relief factory back along with two of his Waterside low relief buildings which should appear over the next few weeks. Markmiller2008
So I decided to do a bit on the custom Building I have had made by JSModels, it is a shortened and slighted changed version of their JS23 kit. It certainly went together as good as the other kits and looks the part, just need to work out how to paint this one.
Markmiller2008
Its been a Relatively quiet period for the layout My Peckett and my Andrew Barclay have received their Narrow Planet nameplates. Two More low relief buildings from @jrb at JSModels have started to be built and that's about all. I'm hoping to get some more done on the layout in the coming weeks when i have some well earned time off work. Markmiller2008
First of all Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. I’ve not done a great deal to the layout in the last few months as I’ve had my other layout up to run some modern image stuff. A few new bits have appeared around the gate area and some road markings around the crossing added. The JSModels kits have had some paint added, not happy with the shade of stone on the back warehouse so that’ll need some work and the two low relief ones are starting to be painted grey as a base. Locos wise, a Hornby Sentinel resprayed in the docks blue livery has appeared but yet to run as I’ve not decided on a standard decoder or a sound one for it, I like sound but I’m not sure if it would overpower the layout being so small. I’m currently awaiting a delivery from gaugemaster of some more Dock walls then I can start laying some kind of hard standing on the left hand board. Markmiller2008
Hi all did some more painting on the low relief warehouse fronts, I think I’ve captured the stone look okay some thoughts would be good on what you think to it? Mark
Markmiller2008
So did some more work on both the low relief JSModels buildings last night. Fairly happy with the end result after some weathering. Soon be time to purchase the last building. Mark
SteveyDee68
Coming along well (and certainly more than any of my own micro layouts!). I do like the goods shed - I've looked at their similar " bus station" kit and thought it looks like a very Ipswich docks type structure. I especially like your dockyard gates (makes me think of Salford Docks!) and the way your hardstanding cleverly avoids point blades, all ideas to steal ahem use as inspiration! All the best for 2021 Steve S
Markmiller2008
Jonathan @jrbat JSModels has given me some trial laser cut fence posts to try, I’m very impressed by them. So far I’ve only got a small section made up as I’m low on 0.45mm wire for the bars. Never the less I’m very happy with the end result Edited January 10, 2021 by Markmiller2008 4
Markmiller2008
Another thing I’ve done today is finish the dockside wall at the front of the layout with the Gaugemaster kits. One slight issue is that I’m 3cm short on the left so if anyone has some offcuts I’d be happy to take them off their hands. Mark
sb67
Looking very good Mark, I like the dockside at the front of the layout. Nice way to edge it.
RMweb Gold Andrew D Posted January 11, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 11, 2021 An interesting thread - and very useful where you've named where you get the kits and accessories from. I'll be referring back to this. Looks really good! Cheers, Andrew
