I have something similar, currently festooned with old fishing rods and floating on the garden pond in an attempt to scare off the bxxxxy heron!

This is the wheelhouse - double skinned for glazing. It needs a chart table, and bits and pieces before it gets fixed down (not to mention a wheel, binnacle etc)

The flying bridge assembly - all Trotec except for the ply decking. The laser was very helpful with both these assemblies.

The two assemblies put together

The aft cabin assembly is a carcass of 2mm MDF with 1mm ply overlays and Trotec doors. I have used the kit supplied castings for the ventilators (cowls) and grills.

Work is taking place on 'Sparrow' at the moment. She is having scratch-built uppers works (to 1:43 scale) on a Caldercraft hull

I've sometimes toyed with adapting one of those for a china clay set up. Are you slicing it off around the waterline at some point or planning to bury it?

Progress as of today .  It looks as if not much has been done,  but the hold combing has been completed, the forecastle populated, the bunker hatch added, water tank added, the stern Capstan and grating added and the wheelhouse glazed.

The wheel-house now has its wheel, binnacle and engine room telegraph, as does the flying bridge

The balwarks are now reinforced (still got the ones astern of the bridge to do....)

She has gained her whistle

And she's finally got her rails on the after bulkwarks. These had to match the irregular curve of the hull, so a 10mm square grid was printed, and held over the hull, and then traced on to the grid. This was then transcribed on to CAD and printed, then checked, adjusted, printed until correct. The capping were then lasered using this drawing- although the drawing could have been stuck to the material and cut out by hand....

Sort of - I' ve built up four narrow gauge locos for it (radio control) :

a Bagnall, two Pecketts and quarry Hunslet. Ive got round to buying the rail, and I've finally decided on the track plan after so very many hours of working through different ideas and permutations...!

Finally a Jpg file. The narrow gauge is 14mm, with a single spur of 32, which will potentially allow the use of a standard gauge crane - or simply posing! Roads and 32mm come down one side of the river, whilst 14mm comes down the other bank and across. The road will fiddle at a higher level, and descend to the quay side

The Sparrow Plan

Unusually for me, this layout will involve running round, and for the fun of it, I shall use my own magnetic couplings and my Scotch uncoupling mechanisms.

Developing wagons for The Sparrow. Timber Side-tippers of a style that was quite commonly used. Ive made a couple of prototypes to make sure they work and are practical

In the middle of bulk building side-tippers. I have eight chassis complete, of a total of twelve required.

I make a laser card in 2mm MDF for each chassis
