For the same reasons I started the model previously I suppose. Mustn't be distracted from Glasgow Queen Street for now though!

Oh I dunno, having a second project to switch to is rather nice I find as it helps leap the little mental or material supply blockages This from the person whose workbench in the last 10 weeks has featured OO, G, Om, On30 and Nm9 and still waiting for the HOn30 on the list to land! 1

You are not wrong. I had Interlaken in HO/HOm and Brechin in O on the go together. I'll need to floor more of the loft if I want to do that now!
David Bell
I have always liked these little boxy locomotives. Considering some are over a hundred years old it is good we can still see them at work. This is at Lauterbrunnen in 2012
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted June 8, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 8, 2020 Yes back in 83 I made card bodies to put on my Triang dock shunters to make one after staying at Wilderswil, the coach was less successful! 1
David Bell
We should all be contemplating summer holidays, perhaps to Switzerland, but obviously that is not going to happen anytime soon.So I thought I would post some pictures of the scenery we are all missing. All these pictures have a train in them somewhere, some more obvious than others
RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted June 8, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 8, 2020 Must be about 30 years since I was last in Switzerland. And that was only a quick business trip to Lemaco at Lausanne. Really must schedule a trip as soon as it becomes possible. Nowhere better really for a train and tram enthusiast. David Bell
Here are a few more to whet your appetite. No trains, but if you zoom in on the patch of snow in the middle of the last one you will see it is not a patch of snow!
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted June 8, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 8, 2020 Last time I went I did the Shilthorn via Meiringen and Interlaken as a day trip from Luzern. Luzern to Meiringen via the Brunig line who says our models are too ‘chocolate boxy!’

RMweb Premium Metropolitan H Posted June 8, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 8, 2020 Not the last time I was at Brienz, but the first time I arrived at Brienz West on a steam headed train - 15th July 2007. It was a very busy Sunday, with the Air Show / Air Races at Interlaken. So the Zentral Bahn wanted to save a block - by coupling the Ballenberg Dampf Bahn train to the front of the following local, through to Oberreid. Suffice to say the two trains were mechanically coupled, but no through systems - so it got quite smoky in the unit through the tunnel from Brienz to Brienz West. But they carried on to Oberreid together. Regards Chris H
RMweb Premium Legend Posted June 8, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 8, 2020 If I’ve got this right here’s a BOB combined train for Grindlewald and Lauterbrunnen at Interlaken Ost , August 1988 , it’s a photo of a photo so just seeing how it comes out and if it’s the right way up!

RMweb Premium Legend Posted June 8, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 8, 2020 This is one of my favourite bits of Interlaken . After leaving Ost and crossing the River Aare and the level crossing , the line runs on a ledge alongside river . You can see a bit of the rock face carved out to accommodate the line which is single between here and Interlaken West
David Bell
I was obviously drawn to this spot too even without a train!

When we did Interlaken - Luzern & back the same loco just ran round at Meiringen. (Pre-ZB & Pre-tunnel into Luzern) Going from Meiringen up to the Brünig I was impressed with the pulling power of the loco once the rack was engaged just outside Meiringen. It may be a quirk of one diagram or for a loco fault too
