It was mentioned in the magazines at the time though. Northwich 1980 whilst locomotives were being kept prior to Rocket 150. Open day with all the locomotives in steam having arrived by rail. They did a few posed photos of it on the ICI hoppers. Then the shed staff decided to start using it. The photo here has a diesel, but on some trains it didn't. I think they did it for a few days until BR told them to stop. http://8erailwayassociation.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/On-Shed-Journal-Winter-2017.pdf Here's one with a Class 25. https://www.flickr.com/photos/38136824@N08/8342535123/ Careful as a few sources say it was an 8F, it wasn't. It was 5000. Jason Edited June 16, 2021 by Steamport Southport
RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted June 16, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 16, 2021 In 1985, as part of the GW150 shennanigans, 9466 spent a week at Radyr prior to appearing at Cathays Workshop open days on a weekend. It was used for the daily Radyr-Cathays trip several times and a halt not called until, in order to deliver a wagon the correct way around it was routed via the Quarry (City Line) and through Cardiff Central and Queen Street. I was in those days a member of a model railway club that exhibited at this event, and had a chance to put a round of coal in the firebox of Iron Duke on the Friday evening as we were setting up; the loco was being driven back and forth along a length of broad gauge track about 50 yards long. 5643 was also there, though not in steam, and CoT turned up for the weekend. Happy days!

RMweb Gold adb968008 Posted June 16, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 16, 2021 (edited) I’ll raise your 08 to a spin down the GWML down fast with 12 coaches, and onto the WSR... Warning, off topic but fun... 30 years, 2 months and 3 days ago.... it started oh so well, 47580 brings a few hundred mancunians down south.. As 47580 goes for a top up, the honours goes to 47805 to do the Norton Fitzwarren spin.. At Taunton, an unsuspecting hero to be sleeps... only a few miles down the road 47805 misbehaves, and the hero of the hour is born... 3205/6106 take us to the beach.. 53808 starts our return to normality meanwhile 47468 is dug up to get us back to Bristol.. where 47580 takes us home once more. sorry, nothing to do with A4’s on freight...
