Is Bachmann 1F chassis the same as Jinty

Can some expert pls advise if these are one and the same?  I need to replace a Jinty chassis and reasonably priced 1F's seem to be more readily available.

No they are not.

Hi Metr0land,

 

The 'Jinty' is longer over the frames, and has a different wheelbase.  It may be worth trying Amazon or eBay for a used one, and do a chassis swap.  IIRC Hattons had some used ones in a couple of weeks ago.

Are you sure you need to replace the existing chassis? These are generally reliable units and Bachmann's spares service in - in my experience - very good.

There is also Richards Spares but they only have a show appearance policy, so not so great for now. Bachmann's spares service is excellent in my experience.

Bachmann may be reliable but my maintenance capabilities are less so.
