BR Exhibition coaches

Funny my thread should come up again.  I was enjoying reading through this new thread when I discovered it earlier this afternoon.  Strangely enough, a photo of said VIX turned up awhile later in a different thread, in black with large double arrows on the doors, in a train which, IIRC had nothing to do with the Exhibition stock.  Think said livery was to do with its former existence?  The picture is on here somewhere, but unfortunately I know not where.  Hopefully someone will remember.

Update .  Found it - the picture of the black ferry van with the large logos, a David Larkin picture, appears on page 2 of the 'Hornby VIX FerryVans. Detailing and the new Railtec transfers' thread.  Sorry - tried to post a link but failed miserably.  HTH.

Best wishes,

Paul

Yep thanks, I got these pictures from that thread...

The Cinema Coach was at Newport, South Wales, in around 1981-1983 when 6000 KGV visited for some anniversary:

Radio 2 Railshow

Does anyone remember this? I think it visited Reading, Weston Super Mare, Plymouth Newquay and Penzance in Aug 1985. There is also a picture of the front cover of the Radio Times from the period featuring the railshow.

Salisbury 1989

I'm guessing that this is 99631 ex-RUO

33109 seen with exhibition coach at Salisbury in 1989. I Cuthbertson collection

That looks more like an ex-RB so 99645/6.

The RUO, while a catering vehicle, was seating only and externally looked like a TSO or SK

Yep, from the video

"The last train on the film is the BBC Radio 2 Railshow train which was heading for Skegness via Grantham where it is seen in the West Yard in the final shots."

Right, I didn't notice until you mentioned it that there were also some RBs in Dave's list. Doh!

This is 99645 at Manchester Victoria in 1989

99664 later became DB 977986.

Along with 99666 - these two still survive and are now used as structure gauging train support coach/coupling adaptor vehicles. (They spent some time as brake force runners within the test fleet.

Fully flush plated over all the passenger windows.

Straying OT:

And since altered slightly from that photo - with only one door per side in use - the other is now sealed and window plated (as is 99666).

I came across this picture of Class 31 117 with Forward With Britain emblazoned across the side and I was curious as to why and it turns out that it was part of  a MGN MIrror Group Exhibition train in 1985. Does anyone remember seeing this 31 like this?
