Boston docks ex BR shunters

I recently went over to Boston to see the steel train arrive and I saw what I assume is the resident docks shunter.  It’s 08375 which was previously at the cement works at Ketton and I was wondering what we’re the previous shunters over say the last 10 years.

I’ve seen a picture of HNRC 08507 taken in 2011 and 09022, who I’m not sure who owns.  I seem to remember that a Class 03 worked the docks until recently but I can’t find any reference to it or the number.

Back in '99 (a bit earlier than you were actually asking) D3871, another Harry Needle loco at that time (I think), was working Boston Docks. I posted a couple of photos of it in the Prototype for Everything Corner thread back in April 2018.

The residents for a number of years were 03112 and 08704, both in BR green, which left in Nov 2011 and April 2012 respectively. 08507 was on hire between June 2011 and Sep 2013. 09022 and 08375 are both owned by Port of Boston Ltd, these arrived in April 2012 and July 2019.

Is there anywhere by the docks to photograph the two shunters without trespassing or causing a obstruction?

Wouldn't know I'm afraid, never been.  The swing bridge appears to be the favourite spot if you look at Flickr.

There's the main road level crossing which I doubt would yield any photographs up to much and then the dock embankment which on one side you can view the level crossing then looking over the harbour the swing-bridge. There's nice side on shots to be had with the stump in the background... Not been for a couple of years mind you...

Hi

Bit more info, do remember the trains are (were for sure) operated that the empties were propelled into the docks as 1 long rake, the loaded wagons return split into shorter trips due to their weight...

In 2009 the main road crossing has automatic full barriers on one side and a man in orange walking in-front of the loco on the other.

Here's some photos of D3871 / 08704 shunting working the train all taken from public places in 2009. I have more of 09022 taken in 2016 and 2018 which I sadly cannot share online.

Cheers
Ralf

The “signal box” for use of a better word is absolutely classic and definitely worth modelling
