Damo666
In this thread, @Nearholmer posted this fascinating poster: I've lived in W.Ealing for many years and travel to work via Brentford, so I was surprised to see a connecting route between Southall and Brentford. Trying to work out how to could get to the current Brentford station and checking on Google Earth, it seems to show the route going via '3' bridges (Road over the canal, over the railway * ). I used to see wagons sitting on the track when I'd travel on the M4 as it crossed the railway, but now that I think if it, not for some time. The track always seems to be a little overgrown, and GE shows this too. If this line didn't connect to the current Brentford station, where did it terminate? It seems to peter out at the Great West Road near the GSK HQ, but resumes further south and ends at some arches beyond the A315 at 'The Ham'. Was there another passenger station at Brentford? * I've always thought that this should really be 'Two' bridges.
Steamport Southport
Wasn't that the Brentford Branch that the original Southall Railway Centre wanted to reopen? It was closed to passengers during World War Two. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brentford_branch_line http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/b/brentford/index.shtml http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/b/brentford_dock/index.shtml Jason Edited June 8, 2020 by Steamport Southport 1

I recall wandering around the derelict buildings to the north of the A4 beside the canal in the mid 90s before they were demolished for the new apartments and taking some pictures, and then managing to get into the wonderful mess of docks to the south. Gave me an sense of what Dickensian London might have been like.

There was a very heavy traffic load from the Docks at Brentford, even in the early sixties. I have a couple of pictures somewhere, so will see if I can dig them out. It was used muchly for testing AEC railcars from Southall, and many of the publicity pictures of them were done there (as is probably in the references above).
