RMweb Premium AdeMoore Posted June 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 11, 2020 Hand rail posts, can’t make my mind up according to Southern nouveau kindly sent to me by @MikeTrice the posts were 5 inches 1.67mm wide in the phot below the plastic is 1.5mm and the coffee stirrers 1mm wide. What do you guys think? I’m thinking 1.5mm looks to wide for some reason. Location shots included for ref. Cheers Ade
Wickham Green too
Have you shortened the platform ? ....... without Southern Nouveau in front of me, I'd guess the legs are in the region of 1.5 sleeper apart in the Light Pacific photo - maybe 4' or 16mm. RMweb Premium AdeMoore Posted June 11, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 11, 2020 Thanks WGT the platform should be right by Southern Nouveau the platform would be 60 odd feet long which obviously it’s not those details were based on 4ft x 3ft slabs in our ref. photos we see the slabs wider than they are long so using another photo as below I concluded they were in half so 2ft long by 3ft wide and built it to those dimensions. its just the handrail posts at 1.5mm wide look over scale. This is the other ref. Photo the posts should be 3”10’ High so arcing those down I think we get 4ft spacing and 2ft slabs? Cheers for the comment. bécasse
The Southern Railway platform edge slabs for pre-cast platforms were 4'-6" long (along the platform edge) and 4'-3" wide. The later Southern Region ones were slightly different but this looks like a Southern Railway structure. 4'-3" is too narrow on its own for a public platform but was considered acceptable for staff halts. 1
