Autocorrection on Posting

OK, I've seen it all now, 'bull-ied' being autocorrected on posting to Bulleid. It might be worth taking a careful look at what's being autocorrected. Also, is there someway to tell the system to not correct a spelling?

This came up recently and I think I'm right in saying there is no autocorrect in RMWeb.  It relies on the system in the device you are using.  AndyY will no doubt confirm this or advise otherwise.

It will be the spill chucker on your device that's the culprit!

Also, it logs commonly used words, so if you've been using Bulleid

in a discussion on Southern matters recently, it will push that word

higher up the probability scale than bull-ied, which you might not

use that often, which is why it reverts to that option.

This is definitely not autocorrect in Firefox (it doesn't have it). What I type in to the edit window is 'bull-ied' (without the dash) but when posted it comes out as 'Bulleid'.

It's a word I had set up to correct within the software years ago as I was sick of the misspelling. I'll remove it at some point.

I much prefer the correction added by Andy.

On a model railway site I would hope/expect a much greater need for the word Bulleid than 'bull-ied', it's not a word one would expect to be in regular need of use on here.

Edit-need a spellchecker!!

Point taken re likelihood of needing to correct to Bulleid. Is there no way we can in some way inform the system to force the spelling we want, say, with brackets or quotes of some kind?

That’s why it’s best to not talk about railways south of the Thames

I turned off predictive text on my devices, after I attempted to apologise for a bizarre text I sent someone and the reason I gave (predictive text) was changed to "predatory sex" :nono:

Similarly with autocorrect constantly replacing words...

I asked the question a while ago regarding RMWeb "autocorrecting" but after switching off all the AI in my own devices I now find that I can type what I intended. Of course, that does mean more proof reading before posting and, I have found, most of my posts require errors correcting that I missed, only spotted once posted!

When doing that could you add an auto-correction from guage to gauge please Andy; Every time I see that mistake some of my brain cells wither !
