RMweb Gold mudmagnet Posted May 22, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 22, 2010 Yes sir, please sir - can I have more? Great looking layout. Can you give some more details. Those buildings look great as well.
45157
There looks to be a lot of "real" materials very skilfully used here, if possible I would very much like to see more or even a small writeup on materials used and how would be good. regards Stewart
Mike
Well guys, Ashwood Basin was planned as an extension to my other old layout Lenches Bridge, it really is nothing more the half a run round with an extended head shunt to act as a siding on a trestle. It has appeared at a few shows including Warley 2008 and Kettering 0 gauge 2009. The buildings are based on those in the area (the black country) and are from homemade plaster castings, plasticard, mounting board and scale timber. The joey and Day boat were built from plasticard and the figures are from S&D. It is due eventually to appear in print in Model Rail some 2 years since the photo-shoot by Craig Tilley. modllr
This is excellent. I always think O gauge looks better in less space. Large O gauge layouts don't do anything for me! Keep up the good work!
Mike
The local factory Noah Hingleys', a little tongue-in-cheek as the real Noah Hingleys made the anchor chains for the Titanic.
JackBlack
Hi Mike, loving your layout. Any chance of a track plan or more pics?
F-UnitMad
See this page on Mike's website for some more pics of Ashwood Basin (and also Lenches Bridge)... http://lenches-bridge.webs.com/apps/photos/album?albumid=1122011 A trackplan isn't really needed as what you can see in the OP picture is it!!! What made this layout a delight to view and a little bit different is the fact that the buildings are at the front, with the railway running behind them, partly obscured at times, just the way we often see a railway in reality when we're not directly by the lineside...
