paul-dereham
This may be a silly question but I've just bought the Bachmann 117 3 car DMU which now needs to be run in. As my layout is end to end I use a rolling road for running in but obviously this can't hold a 3 car DMU. Can the power cars be run in individually or does this mess anything up? After spending £300 I don't want to do anything to ruin it!
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted June 20, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 20, 2020 Haven’t got a 117, but assuming the set-up is the same as the new 159, the DCC socket is in one driving car. Meaning that that power car will operate on its own, so could be run-in on a rolling road, but unfortunately the other power car won’t ! Maybe you could run-in one power car, before coupling them back to back (centre car not needed) , before placing the second power car on the rolling road and packing the first car up to the same height to avoid stress on the coupling. You would need to pack under the chassis, as the powered wheels on both cars would turn when power is applied. cheers, Phil.
