It seems to encapsulate the man's character to some degree; the layout set out on the floor controlled (control is everything to a Nazi) from a standing position, the aviator's overhead view of things. Everything is laid out in order and discipline, straight lines and 90 degree curves, and Hermann and his house guests stood lording it over 3.5mm Germany, or perhaps it was Greater Germany they had in mind.
