Moderators Popular Post AY Mod Posted June 23, 2020 Moderators Popular Post Share Posted June 23, 2020 As some of you will have seen from our regular newsletters (register here to be kept up to date) we are holding a Virtual Exhibition as we couldn't get to do the re-arranged Ally Pally event unfortunately. We've been busy gathering content to bring you online, at home or on the move, free of charge. I've been playing fantasy layout bookings and brought together a selection of some of the best layouts we have featured in the pages of BRM with images and supporting video content so you get to see some trains moving as well as hear from the layout owners; the next best thing to being there. Some of the layouts would never get to a real show so it's a chance to visit some at home. The layouts will be there for when the show 'opens' its doors and there will be a live feed of other content as we progress through the two days. Phil's been beavering away on a new practical project and will be released in stages on the feed along with news updates from manufacturers, some exciting product announcements including two new OO loco projects. Howard's been conjuring up competitions and challenges whilst Debbie has been bringing together some great practical and prototype content. We'll be releasing the details of the featured layouts and the timetable as we approach the event and through our social media channels for those who wish to follow such. https://www.facebook.com/Britishrailwaymodellingmagazine/ https://twitter.com/BRMmagazine We've been busy! Very busy in fact to try and bring you a different format with over 7 hours of video and many thousands of words gathered with some great support for the event from the trade too. Great content to see with some fun along the way as well. 24
Administrators Popular Post Phil Parker Posted June 23, 2020 Administrators Popular Post Share Posted June 23, 2020 You'll be expecting something practical, well, I'm busy building a brand new layout - and videoing the process as I go. The model isn't finished yet - I'll post more photos as the deadline approaches. In the meantime, where is my midnight oil? 20 1
Moderators Popular Post AY Mod Posted June 25, 2020 Author Moderators Popular Post Share Posted June 25, 2020 These are just the layouts that will be featured; there's much, much more to come. Even within that area there's over 3 hours of video to keep readers entertained.
Moderators Popular Post AY Mod Posted June 29, 2020 Author Moderators Popular Post Share Posted June 29, 2020 I would doubt that you will be rushing to get into the pubs yet on 4th July; stay home, watch the virtual exhibition and stay safe. Spare a thought for Geoff Taylor though, the George Hotel on Penmaenpool won't be open on Saturday as it's in Wales, not that he could get there anyway as it's a lot more than five miles from home. For now he'll have to wait patiently, in model form, on the balcony for the next train to come through the idyllic waterside setting on his Penmaenpool layout, as featured in our virtual show. The tracks are long-gone outside the pub which probably has one of the best views in Britain but we will be showing you what the scene is like now within the feature.

Moderators AY Mod Posted July 4, 2020 Author Moderators Share Posted July 4, 2020 Page loadings are a bit slow (10-20 secs) but that system is obviously under far more pressure than usual. Please be patient, the pages will eventually load.

RMweb Gold SHMD Posted July 4, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 4, 2020 I'm up to 12 on spot the difference and my best guess, for the weight, is 742 tonnes - in full scale! Luv'in it... Kev.

Glad I wasn't missing something! A very nice selection of content, and it's handy to be able to access it at whatever time and in whatever order. The layout interviews and demonstrator videos in particular are great -- thanks to all for organising it. RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted July 4, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 4, 2020 (edited) Thoroughly enjoying the layouts and the highlight so far is Phil’s interview with Tim Dunn. Great series on tv and his massive enthusiasm without having to play it daft for questions, very well pitched. I do hope there’s another series but one thing you missed! What’s the story behind the superb large scale HST behind him, is it one of the old promo models or a recreation? RMweb Gold SouthernRegionSteam Posted July 4, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 4, 2020 Thanks so much to all of you at BRM for putting it on; there's been a huge amount of work behind the scenes for all involved. I've also spent the best part of a week getting stuff ready, filming, and editing (I'm still editing the last video as we speak, which I hope to be ready by tomorrow morning!). That's not to say I haven't enjoyed it, and it's genuinely been really fun to be a part of; just as it was for the virtual SWAG do. And if anyone has any questions to direct at me about any of my videos from the event, please do so! From the little I've had time to see, it looks like a fantastic show, and well laid out on the website, by the way. My only worry is that I'll miss a lot of the content, so my question is this (and apologies if it's been mentioned somewhere): Will this be available on the WoR website for a while after the weekend?

RMweb Gold Andy 53B Posted July 4, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 4, 2020 Really enjoying the layouts so far, just watched Phil’s interview with Tim Dunn which I thought was really good and just shows how good a program can be when its done by someone with massive enthusiasm for the subject. I don't know if it was just me, but has Phil's lockdown haircut started to go full Mohican!!

We had a bit of a chat about these before the interview as I own 2 APT promo models. Both of us appeared to have curated the shelves in shot with special trains.
