RMweb Premium Alex TM Posted June 23, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 23, 2020 Hi everyone, Can anyone tell me what diesel locomotives ran on those parts that survived beyond the steam era? I have been doing a little reading on the Tanat Valley Railway, parts of which seem to have survived into more recent times. Although I have found information on what locomotives ran during its days under steam power I have not yet found anything detailing what ran on those parts that survived into the 1970s and beyond. Can anyone help? Many thanks for any pointers. Regards, Alex.
flyingsignalman
I've seen photos of class 24s and 25s on the line up to Blodwell Quarry and not long before the line was mothballed I was stopped at the level crossing south of Oswestry when a class 31 passed with a train for the quarry. RMweb Premium Alex TM Posted June 24, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 24, 2020 Hi again, Keith, Martin, thanks for those observations. Interesting to see some variety too. I imagine some of those locos would have been Crewe based, but no thoughts on where the others may have come from. I have now found some images online, but usually with no numbers either clearly visible or recorded yet. Regards, Alex.
