First up class 08. Llanbourne requires two of these loco's. A dual braked loco to perform ECS duties and shunt parcel vans as required. The other duty requires an Air braked or dual braked loco for Llanbourne's Town Yard and South Yard. Jim Hi Jim, Hope you are going ok, is the new addition settling in ok? Both class 08s are Hornby. I did have two Bachmann 08s which were ok but after seeing my mates Hornby loco run on my layout I decided to sell my Bachmann loco's as they just didn't run as well, the Bachmann one's wobble too much for me. The daily 6D28 oil train from Stanlow and the 6J39 return. Also the FSO 2D59 Derby Llanbourne and the return 2K52 Llanbourne Derby. The oil train is a bit of a cheat really as I have borrowed it from the central Wales line. The class 20's can also turn up on ballast trains vice other motive power. 20009 TI, 20023 F TI, 20121 TO, 20154 TO 20165 F TI 20169 TO. Cheers Peter. I must say your ballast and weathing thereof is spot on - a perfect mix of colours, weeds, dirt vs fresh ballast, etc. Makes a real difference I think. Your trackwork is code 100 isn't it? If so, it's the same as mine and I'll certainly be using your layout as inspiration when I get to the ballasting stage. Hugo is settling in well - it's just me that isn't getting any sleep! To my eyes the Hornby 08 model captures the look of the prototype much better although the Bachmann model still looks good. I have too heard about poor running however. Blimey, I didn't realise you had three pairs of Choppers! By 1986 the writing was on the wall for the class and March 1987 saw the end for the class 25's. Some of their last working were along the coast normally replacing failed loco's. Llanbourne's class 25's only have one Booked working. The 7D30 Crewe to Penmaenmawr and the 7K11 return loaded train back to Crewe. This turn can also bring the loco back out on an departmental working which runs as required. Another class 25 is often seen in the Llanbourne area working trips as required. Most days a class 25 can be seen working down the Blaenau Ffestiniog branch on either the flask train which is a portion off the train that works to Valley. Or the MOD trip that works down the Blaenau branch.
