GDR
Who makes the best 0-0 animals? I'm after: -Cat at rest -Dog ditto* -Sheep (suitable for cattle dock tenants) They all look great in the pics online but which products disappoint/amaze when received? *Once saw an ad for "risque" figures in the back of a mag. Any ideas? I'd love a cameo of dog licking the bits that dogs do while observed by distainful cat atop wall.
Guest Half-full
Wouldnt fancy a 16.5mm wide dog. Look for 4mm scale Noch have a line of risque figures, these are to HO/3.5mm scale, slighty smaller than 4mm but you can get away with it in perspective

rob D2
I had to email RM a few issues back - a supplier had unwittingly put totally viewable pictures of aforementioned “ odious tat “ in their ad. I didn’t want any of the older generations having a heart attack. Personally I’d struggle to find somewhere to fit it in, but there must be a lot of Europeans modellers doing branch lines through the Hamburg red light district or something , as they never seem to end that line. Steamport Southport
Whatever floats your boat. just keep them at home. Jokey things like that the joke wears thin pretty quickly IMO. As for animals. Have a look at suppliers like Dart. https://www.dartcastings.co.uk/dartcastings.php#ANIMALS(OOGAUGE) Langley, available painted or unpainted. http://www.langleymodels.co.uk/shop/sh000001.pl?REFPAGE=http%3a%2f%2fwww.langley-models.co.uk%2f&WD=cat&PN=Online_Catalogue_OO_Scale_Accessories_F77_to_F171f_14.html%23aF144#aF144 Including a dog needing a lamppost.... http://www.langleymodels.co.uk/shop/sh000001.pl?REFPAGE=http%3a%2f%2fwww.langleymodels.co.uk%2fshop%2fss000001.pl%3fTB%3dA%26GB%3d%26SS%3dcat%26PR%3d-1%26PG%3d%26REFPAGE%3dhttp%3a%2f%2fwww%2elangley%2dmodels%2eco%2euk%2f%26PN%3d1&WD=dogs&PN=Online_Catalogue_OO_Scale_Accessories_F1_to_F76_inc_Canal_Boats_etc_10.html%23aF66#aF66 And try the usual suspects such as Presier, Noch, Peco/Modelscene, Bachmann, Hornby, etc. Jason

We're the ones that have seen it all years ago and are thus unshockable, remember; I'd worry more about you youngsters' ability to to keep a firm grip, I mean to rise to the occasion, I mean... you're in a hole, Johnster, stop digging! I'm with Andy, though, odious tat and typical leering German porn merchant stuff.
DCB
Yes we must not upset the young people by modelling questionable animal behaviour. Thomas the Tank Engine partly dismantled in a scrapyard scene is far more effective. I remember reading about the Ortogo railway or some such with automated rabbits which ducked into their burrows as trains approached some good few years ago, mid 1960s? 1
RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted June 27, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 27, 2020 Back on topic, I have been looking for sheep and lambs. Some are nicely proportioned or perhaps still with their winter coats but some are rather emaciated - or possibly underfed and only just shorn. So think about the time of year. Then of course there is the appropriate breed for your locality and modelling date. Even dogs vary with period. None of these currently fashionable mongrels such as "Cavapoos" half a century ago. RMweb Gold tomparryharry Posted June 28, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 28, 2020 Springside do some very passable sheep. There used to be a military modelling shop opposite the Imperial War Museum, which for some strange reason, had a large display of 20mm figurines in 'questionable attire & poses' This was back in 1974, however; the VAT rate will have changed..... Il Grifone
Airfix farm animals were my choice (harder to get now). The sheep are ready to be shorn and the cattle are 'Pharoah's lean kine', but there is a nice collie. It's not resting (a rounding up sheep pose}. GDR
Excellent song! Knew a sheepdog (re-homed) who'd been sacked. Got the sheep into the pen ok every time but followed them in & stood in the middle grinning. Having a laugh with his wooly mates.
