Claycrossjunction
On YouTube their are archive films from the 1950s/60s eras showing flat roofed coaches been used as platforms for men to work on. The men were walking along the roofs one holding the wire the other attaching the wire to another wire this was part of British Railways electrification program . I don't think I would have liked to have worked on them no railings on either side and it looked a long way down. Have these coaches ever been made into models or perhaps someone has made one ? Thank you.
RMweb Premium Steven B Posted July 1, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 1, 2020 What scale? Southern Pride do the Mk1 based coaches that were converted in the 1970s. Your 1950s era film will be similar conversions of pre-nationalisation coaches. You can find conversions of ex LMS and LNER coaches on Paul Bartlett's site https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/overheadmaintenance The conversions involved fitting a flat roof. The curved ends and corridor connections were also removed, usually replaced with a flat end and ladder to access the roof. Steven B.
