Guest Jack Benson
My apologies for a rather banal question but is the Hornby large Peckett as good a runner as its smaller cousin or does the extra axle improve running still further? Thank you Cheers and Stay Safe
RMweb Gold Mick Bonwick Posted July 2, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 2, 2020 (edited) The extra axle offers no improvement to the running qualities, but the extra length of the wheelbase does minimise the possibilities of stalling on insulated common crossings, as you would expect. davknigh
Both engines run equally well but the larger engine has greater pulling power as one might expect. The B2 has the additional advantage of having a brass whistle rather than the plastic one on the W4. Cheers, David
Guest Jack Benson
Hi, The B2 was acquired solely to share duties with the incumbent W4 on an exhibitable diorama - hence the query about running. Its 'load' will be no more than a couple of wagons but faultless running will be a priority. Its origin on the Fovant Military Railway were an added bonus. Can anyone suggest a suitable replacement? Thanks Steve

More than you might need, but worth considering.
