I mention this here because he was explaining to me how sediments can be dated to particular interglacials by their biological component - particularly the type, size, and quantity of hippo remains. Hippos were particularly plentiful in certain interglacials - great herds of them throughout what is now the Severn basin. I though that might be of interest to some. According to one of my news feeds, HH has got a new grandchild in Edinburgh and the new baby hippo is very cute. Jamie 3 1 1

So he was asked for his preference of language. He asked for Arabic and Farsi. He was told the US would not need such languages so choose again. He chose Mandarin and Japanese as the language school was in California. He was from New York. Tony I've a strange and funny novel based on a guy who could understand what his Rough Collie said. It's base in a certain military language school in California... The Collie ends up as an instructor.... The guy who wrote it was a former instructor at the school. You get the feeling there was much hidden digs at the real management in the story..

Popular Post SM42
We have suffered a loss at SM42 Towers Been with me for nigh on 20 years but today succumbed to the inevitable. It all started with a 16t mineral kit. I turned on the lamp on the modelling bench. Nothing. Aha! I thought, the bulb has blown. Push in bulb and twist to release the bayonet fitting and I am left standing there with just the bulb in my hand but no base. That's still in the holder. Now I need to be to be able to grip the base of the old bulb, so out come the pliers. Is it switched on or off? I crawl under the bench to unplug the thing ( I'm not as daft as you look) and have to work out by a process of elimation which plug it is. Success. Disconnected. Pliers now used attack remains of bulb to release it from the holder. Lamp holder breaks away from its mount, (the mount shattered) and is now flopping about in the shade. It's terminal. Beyond any repair that I can do Spend 1/2 and hour trying to disentagle the lamp from all the bench and all the other cables without causing a wagon avalanche and then realise that I could just cut the cable and retrieve it in two bits. Its mortal remains have been laid to rest in the bin. It has been that sort of day At least I now have a spare 3 pin plug Andy 2

Jamie Mainly 4mm. 26 vans, 13 opens 4 containers 5 tanks 3 CCT / PMV 6 Turbots and a Mark 2 7mm 2 vans I've been busy during lockdown. Just need to finish that lot off now. Then I can start on the pile in the centre (no avalanche risk) portion of the bench and the lower slopes of the right hand side. Did I mention the class 47, 37 and EU47? Why did I start another kit? RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted May 5, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 5, 2021 Pal H came around today, with a new loco he has had for a year but never steamed, due to illness, lockdown, and life getting in the way. He's fairly new to live steam so wanted a bit of re-assurance. The loco's colour isn't that bright in reality, the camera has over emphasised it. It was nice to boil some water together, although sunny it was bloomin freezing. H went home a happy man, which is nice, he's not well at all and is a good friend. My old railway is getting a bit....lot...rickety, sorry.

RMweb Premium J. S. Bach Posted May 6, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 6, 2021 (edited) Today was a eventful one; I had to attend a funeral of a church member and when I got home, there was a massive pile of boxes on my front porch: 1. A James Clavell novel Gai-Jin 2. An O scale MTH Geigy Chemical tanker to be two-railed 3. A K-Line three-pack of HOOKERS; three-dome tankers plus a work cabin car 4. Two very large boxes that contain (in total) thirty O scale freight cars Tomorrow will seem like Christmas day as I will open those two boxes. And having said that, goodnight to all. A bit worrying leaving all that on your front porch, in many places that would have disappeared in minutes. 1
RMweb Gold Happy Hippo Posted May 6, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 6, 2021 Deliveries this morning, so the Staffel Fuhrer had better look out as I may be making a low fast pass through MD on my way to points further NE. Fortunately, it will not be accompanied by either a further touch and go, or worse still a full stop!
