I can concur that the point work in North Hipposhire is of an extremely high standard and it is a joy to look at.

In comparison, I am very lazy and use Peco track  although my points are made using the Peco Individulay chairs.

I should really be using the 2 bolt stuff that is true GWR/BR(W) available from the specialist manufacturers to be closer to the mark, but I have a lot of Peco rail and track and the Peco stuff is relatively cheap.

I do not use their switch rails, crossing noses or the sleeper strip.  The first two being too short to be of any use (my opinion, others seem to get on ok).  The sleepers I prefer to cut from timber.

I have been through many types of 'tie bar' to actuate the switch blade, but have now settled on the MM1 models tie bar kit.

This is two etched brass strips that are soldered to the switch blades. They need to be insulated from each other with some paper and glue.  An RSU is a handy to put them together as it concentrated the heat nicely.

They are not a quick fix as they do take time to put together.

As an aside, in comparison, my non insulated garden point actuators go together very quickly.

Fortunately, like Dave's, all my point work does work.

I've finally got the door frame finished and the door is mounted:  Yes, it does open and close and latch shut when required!

All I need to do is sort out the plasterwork around the frame (it won't be seen as it's behind the architrave, but it's a matter of doing a tidy job) and refit the architrave.

One was damaged when I took it off, so I've jointed another length onto the undamaged section using  a short spare bit I had in the scrap pile.

Of course, what did I get rid of a couple of weeks ago?  All the long bits of bull nosed 45mm x 15 mm architrave.

OFMC tonight, so I've got a couple of hours that I can dedicate to getting the stuff ready for the Telford MRG show on Saturday.

The club do not do themselves any favour with their advertising, or lack of.

One of the many reasons I left them.

Can you print some in 7 mm scale quickly and get them here by next Saturday?

This is the best I can do I'm afraid.

But if you can find some unsuspecting twit with a 3-D printer they might be able to crank some out for you

We could do with a similar sign at some model railway exhibitions.

The only problem would be that by the time they read the notice it's too late. Ideally it would need to be sent out prior to the event or perhaps 500 ft from the entrance downwind.

In not sure what normal grooming standards are.

Perhaps Jamie would be able to put a police perspective on what is considered grooming?

Whilst appreciating Jamie perspective from the enforcement side I do think its a bit much for him to also provide an opinion on odorous emissions. Or is his nose specially trained similar to those police sniffer dogs?

One of the many great things about living in the country owning your own septic system. I was reminded in no uncertain terms that it's high time the tank was emptied :)  It's actually just over five years since it was last done. Whether it really needs it now or not is anybody's guess. It's just one of those things it's best not to take any chances with.

I managed to locate the lid and remove the dirt on top of it. I would have used the backhoe but it's a bit of a palaver attaching it to the tractor so I dug it out by hand which was a big mistake.

A septic sucking service has been engaged for Friday morning. You have been warned! BTW their slogan is:

"The #1 Man for the #2 Job."

I could be wrong but I suspect His Royal Hipponess was thinking of a different type of grooming :)

She was probably unaware that the penalty for misrepresenting a government agency like the CDC could be a whopping fine and five years in a federal slammer but she's probably fully aware of that now. In a way it's actually quite good that she did it because she'll become the poster child that warns other people how serious it is.

Certainly not.  I got bopped on the hooter one night at work so can only smell quite strong smells.  To go any further would be TMI

Never had to do that.  However I believe that one mayor in a seaside town in Italy once tried something  similar. His inspectors had to check whether ladies had a good enough figure to be seen on the beach in a bikini.  However how about usi g the stewards from the Royal enclosure at Ascot. They have to make such judements.

Yes know that procedure well. We always know if a neighbour is having their fosse cleaned out.

A young lady in Ohio posted a video showing-off her fake vaccination card on TikTok. I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time :D

To get a fake vaccination card is stupid but to put it on social media is even more stupid.

When we lived in an old farmhouse in Lincolnshire we had a septic tank. The chap who used to come to empty it had a wagon carrying the slogan "Cesspool Sid" and was the most cheerful bloke imaginable. The tank was a huge brick built chamber and In the ten years we lived there it only needed emptying twice. We had a good crop of rhubarb around the inspection and access manhole.

At RAF Valley in Anglesey the main sewer from the domestic site runs alongside the wall that divides the airfield from the railway line and apparently back in the 1950s or so it fractured. When I worked there in the late 1960s and again in the mid 1970s there was an amazing crop of tomatoes that grew wild along the area where the break had occurred. Tomato seeds apparently pass through the digestive tract unharmed.

I remember an older colleague of mine telling me that back in the 50's they used to be able to purchase the products of the local sewerage works as fertilizer. It could always be guaranteed to produce an excellent crop of tomatoes.

Used to be called, may still be, night soil and is used as an organic fertilizer. There are though some issues about putting what is untreated sewage on the ground because of the risk of ground water contamination. I mention this incase any followers of this esteemed drivel have the sudden desire to fertilize there gardens.
