Rowena
Hi, I am hoping to convert the body of a Peco LMS brake van into the cab for a funicular railway. I will need to cut windows into the sides. What is the best way of cutting? The vertical lines will help with straight lines and I intend to cut down to the horizontal line below the LMS logo. Would a simple hobby knife be best or is there a better way? Many thanks in advance
RexAshton
By far the easiest way would be to drill out the centre of your proposed window and then file the opening to the shape and size that you want. Alternatively you could drill the four corners and use a piercing saw but that would be a bit tricky on something so small. There's always a danger of the plastic cracking if you try to cut it, As the blade goes through it puts stress on the corners of the opening.
Rowena
Hi Rex, thanks for the advice, I hadn't thought of the danger of it cracking. I'll try the drilling and filing and see how that goes. New venture so really grateful, Many thanks , Rowena
