SNCF 90 is back on the bench and coming along nicely. Decals today but need to sort out valences, window surrounds, detail pack, silver buffers, works plates, fit the chip and test it so still some way to go! Here it is with the can’t rail going on

And with the numbers on

More 90s today with 90130 having all the detail painting done. This one is staying ex works apart from its buffer grease5034C1C2-BBDD-4F42-BAF4-D992B988505A.jpeg.671b072479ce769d032741099b78844a.jpeg

and a side on view

The other 90 is freightliner 90045. A renumber from 042 with a few changes to the positioning of the OHLE flashes, zero injuries decals and the windscreen dividing bar changed to yellow rather than black on 042. Debating weathering this one but at present undecided!

NCF 90130 now finished and on it's way home. This started life as 90005 in Intercity Swallow livery before its respray. Nameplates and Crewe Eagles from Brian at Shawplan and the decals from the team at Fox transfers. Few pics below:

90045 was to clean so weathering has begun. I had debated which number to do but selected 045 as I had some good pics of it looking pretty grotty!

Chassis has had first lot of colour and bodysides

my multicolour mix has gone on the roof and different shades on the cab roofs. This will be left to dry for a couple of days before the next steps.

Super work as per usual Jerry, 90030 is a beast!

funny you mention the window divider bar on the Powerhaul 90s. They all have yellow bars but because of how filthy they get, they look black on all of them. Here’s a photo from Flickr of 042 and you can (just about) see that it does, in fact, have a yellow dividing bar. A good spot indeed, I missed it when you asked me over pm about the differences lol!

Hi Jack, the pics you sent over they were all yellow but on of the pics of 042 looks like at some point it was painted black as it’s really clean! Definitely yellow in the one above!  How was the DVT?

Thats a possibility I suppose. Even 045 and 049 had very dirty centre bars too.

DVT is fine mate! Thanks again for sorting it out

BR blue today:yahoo:even if it is the modern take on it- can’t have everything! This has had the old numbers and BR arrows removed, cant rails added, new numbers, silver window frames, new style OHLE flashes, etched Scottie dogs and last up yellow axle boxes- although only the red is on which will be masked before the yellow to leave the red stripe.

90045 has now had all it's weathering finished which together with the changes from the original 042 model make quite a difference to it's appearance. Here's a few pics of it done:

Proud new owner of Jerry’s 90034 which is a stunning respray and knocks spots off any other respray I’ve seen of this particular 90! Every last detail was picked out. A true beauty that’ll stand out running round my layout.

won’t be long until it’s running round with some AGA mk3s and the pretendolino behind it!

Huge, huge thanks again Jerry!

90034 does look incredible and notably a better job than mine. 90034 was the first 90 i wanted when the Bachmann 90 was released and whilst i think it went to a good reliverier, i think @Squirrel Rail has shown how much better it could and should have been.

Its great to see another OLE layout with such great detail coming into blossom @WrattingRoad

Last customer job of the year is finishing off 20205 which I have pained the axle boxes on. Couple of. Decals to go the battery boxes and a bit of varnish to restore the factory finish before weathering.

20F0ACAA-8550-4CD9-91FE-E07430BC4780.jpeg.e090f0280a91e052285bd98c67f0944f.jpeg

Theres a couple of Squirrel projects on the go too, first of the pair is a good old rat. I’ve stripped the small yellow warning panel and all the numbers etc and this will be going into BR blue sometime in the future!

my other project is virgin 47814 which is to become rebranded 843 with freightliner flashes. First job was to shorten the yellow warning panel and respray the cab sides as shown below

Primer first thing this morning with the 25 and another 90 being treated;

IMG_2632.jpg.a8a128083ebbf3916c4f9ba3d61bd979.jpg

IMG_2633.jpg.376643ec9a546785c62e9b02cd84cf8b.jpg

Whilst these two were hardening off back on the virgin/freightliner Vulcan. New numbers and OHLE flashes on together with the freightliner logos. Virgin writing removed but remnants left, I will lose a bit more of this as it's a bit too prominent. Detail pack on one end and cab handrail under the windscreens into silver rather than the original white...

IMG_2636.jpg.feadfd57d655db8a3360c7defd6e2ea5.jpg

Fast forward to this evening and the 25 has received some pre-shading prior to it's BR blue and yellow

IMG_2637.jpg.9d0593254776c9d60793b81db42a1866.jpg

Using the same mix I have also started to weather the roof and underframe on 47843

IMG_2642.jpg.6014b9d7934cdd0f87497b793498bb14.jpg

Last up for the day was the 90, wonder what this could be!

Rat time today and it will teach me to do my research first:read: I thought it would be a doddle to find a blue rat with nose doors boiler steps and no covers on the boiler room grills- wrong! In the end it was the lack of boiler room covers that narrowed I’d down to one so nose end doors and boiler steps had to go:

337FD4D4-4234-4AB6-A7F5-E81A9955AB83.jpeg.30ff99bfeea2d5446f63635f1e99aedb.jpeg

so into primer

then this evening the yellow ends went on

like I clot I hadn’t preshaded the ends after priming but not the end of the world....

More Rat today, BR blue on and it’s a shame the camera doesn’t really show the variations in the paint....

this one shows it a bit better

Next up was to start on the chassis, red buffer beams and yellow axle boxes have to go- the cab and drivers could also do with a bit a bit of paint - work in progress but here’s before

BB1BBAF0-2FD8-4900-AAC8-046A89B75EEA.jpeg.33b30dedc810bf5e2dcca4b2ba2fe8eb.jpeg

and here’s after a bit of painting, will try and get it done tomorrow so the body can go back on

Just spent a very pleasant afternoon going through your thread. Now are you and James Makin related. This is another thread that makes me very envious..........

Keith

Hi Keith, many thanks for the kind comments and glad you enjoyed the thread. The 47843 I've just finished is straying into James' area of expertise so hopefully he will not find too much wrong with it!

Cheers Jerry
