Squirrel Rail
Few completions today which is a bit of Deja vu for 58033, 90002 and 90045 as I've done all of these for other customers. First up 58033 which was a rework of 58030 with the high up gold band and resprayed bodysides topped off with a good helping of wear and tear and grime, The other 58 is 003 which was in for replacement numbers, a front number and some repairs to a glue run on the nameplates. Its all back to normal now, 90045 was a renumber and weather, decals from Steve @railtec-models . There's quite a few detail differences from the original 90042 donor Real shame that the camera doesn't pick up the colours in the roof but here's a pic anyway The other 90 was 002 Wolf of Badenoch ex works in it's current condition with LSL and to round off the day work started on prepping a 37 which will be going into EWS! That's enough for today..... 17

Squirrel Rail
No progress today as been on carer duties but got this great pic from a customer of his 90130 with a rather large nameplate!
Squirrel Rail
A long day preparing shells with four more customer 90s ready to be primed tomorrow and the 56 and 37 going into primer. The 56 will be 057 so needed the ariel changing to the V shape rather than the bar - thank you Shawplan.. Now it's got it's primer on I can see the holes from the old fitting better so will fill those tomorrow and then re-prime the cab roofs. I normally like to remove the handrails but these are the crappy plastic ones which have a nasty tendency to bend or snap so they are staying on! The other loco to get a coat of primer was the 37 ahead of it going into EWS red and gold

Squirrel Rail
Trying to get ahead on the trains at the moment as the lawn mowing season will begin shortly and I have the oldies gardens to do as well as my own, doesn't help when one's got 4 acres So bring on todays efforts; the four 90s have all gone into primer three liveries to go on these, loitering in the background is the EWS 90 which is ready to go home but I'm still trying to get decals for the ex Anglia Mk2 that goes with it - I need the 1s for first class and the round coach letter and seat numbers - any ideas anyone before I pester Steve @railtec-modelsagain... The 56 has had the holes in the roof filled so will get its yellow ends tomorrow. The EWS 37 has been pre-shaded then a coat of red over the top - all looks a bit rough at the mo but it's work in progress. The pre-shading leaves a nice patchy grotty looking finish to the red which again the camera and lights aren't picking up but will show up when finished. This needs to hard for a couple of days before the gold band, Amongst various other bits and pieces time to unbox this lot - what could be worse than one 50, yep five of them... Four will get new identities, 002 will get a proper weathering job and then all will be sound fitted so that will keep me occupied....
Departmental203
Just been doing a bit of catching-up here on this thread and I must say very nice work on the locos! I especially like the weathered 90036, suppose the red can really show up dirt! Jules

Squirrel Rail
Few bits and pieces today with the 56 getting it’s yellow ends breaking down a bubble at ready for a respray, usually these fall apart when you look at them but this one had been the recipient of the Dapol monthly glue supply! lastly I wanted a blue 31 shell- this one had come from a body rot victim and has been in my stash for yonks. I’ve fixed the corners but wanted to lose the factory weathering so here’s a before: during.. and after! hopefully some more interesting stuff tomorrow,..... 7 1

Benjamin Brady
Hi, Is the EWS 90 and ex-anglia FO destined for the hired in XC set that used to work the Manchester - Birmingham service. If so I remember going on it when it was like that but hardly ever see any photos with the Anglia mk2 in it. Ben

Squirrel Rail
EWS 90017 is now finished and ready to go home -the round buffers certainly change the look of the front end and from the other end - Going back with the 90 is a Hornby Mk2 -resprayed into de-branded Anglia, The pair of GNER 90s have had their yellow warning panels added and the roof on DB 999990034 has had its blue Decals are underway on this Hattons DB 66 which has gone from 118 to 113, this is one of the worst jobs getting them to lay flat, especially where you can't use microsol or micro set, but with Klear and a bit of patience they are nearly there. A couple of air bubbles to go, more Klear then they will be sealed in! The other decals today were on the EWS 37 which has it's cant rails next to do. 13
BelsteadLane
Just the usual check in! 90017... my word, that is a beauty! Very jealous of that, hope my future EWS Skodas look like that also interested to see how the two GNERs turn out as well! Nice to see a bit of Anglia on the work bench, a bit of home for you Jerry! With regards to the Hattons 66, what was removing the transfers like? When I weathered a couple of their FEA wagons, I went to remove the weathering from around the decals and ended up removing some of the decals by accident! I think I was using quite harsh thinner though and I didn’t varnish the model beforehand either (classic schoolboy rookie mistake but I was inexperienced at the time!) I havn’t weathered one since but do varnish everything prior to weathering now... reason I’m asking though is im wanting to model 66505 which has an offset Freightliner logo on one side. I’m debating use a Hattons model for it, I do want to get another one but they seem a gamble when purchasing at the moment due to their issues! I need to build my faith up in them before I buy so I may even just go with a Bachmann model. But if I do get another Hattons one, I don’t want a pigs ear of it and I hope the decals are a bit more secure than what they were on the wagons!
