Little bit of activity this evening on the 90, signal box and 60074. First up the signal box which now has the fascia boards fitted- they need a bit of filler in the end joints but after that it will go into mothballs pending the interior:

The 90 has had the windscreen pillars put into black

IMG_1187.jpg.e7d854637aa621785e52ce3f1b385418.jpg

and the rubbing plates on the buffer beam have been removed - holes need filling before adding the detail pack:

Lastly 66074 has gained new yellow warning panels as those on the donor didn't reach far enough around the cab side.

Hopefully some more progress on these tomorrow.

Tug time this morning, grey to the rest of the body - wrote down two different mixes yesterday and neither looked the same today - message to self -mix up one big lot of paint and store for next bit of spraying! Colour looks totally different away from bench light but here it is so far:

Work on the Class 90 this afternoon. Starting with the buffer beam replaced the buffers, removed the coupling, fitted the valence plug, air pipes and screw link coupling

Decaling is now complete, etched arrows, works plates and falcons on and freightliner branding completed. Should move into the queue for weathering soon.

60074 has progressed alongside the 90 and is resting on its chassis with the newly blinged bogies:IMG_1194.jpg.d3afd62cea2ccc24ff105e8838f78eb9.jpg

The colour has been a real pain to match but I'm happy with it, in daylight it takes on a different grey so looking forward to finishing it and seeing what it looks like!

074 is looking good Jerry nice work! Prefer it in the light blue of “Teenage cancer trust” personally but you’ve done a great job of replicating the new livery.

Keep up the good work.

Will

Thanks Will, I’ve weathered one in the TCT livery and the light blue looked great, same with the original steel pair when they were blue. They’re such a nice loco to work on - there will be a couple more on the workbench soon 054 and 068 so keep an eye out for them! Cheers Jerry

Hi Jerry,

Lovely work on the 90, I have a soft spot for them, I think every livery they have carried works on the design! Looking forward to seeing it weathered.

One little thing with 60074, I think the grey shade looks ace, but before you go too far the roof looks like it wants a coat of black paint.

Hi Jo, I've looked at the same pics and it does look black yet in others its looks to be the grey: - Jack374 has a pic on his thread where it looks as grey as these look black:wacko: They should have named this chameleon instead!

Hi Jo,

Just looked on Jack374s thread again - there is a pic on Toton where it clearly is a very dark grey /black so thank you and I will be redoing that roof tonight:wacko:

Decision made thanks to Steadfast and Jack374 - roof has been painted this morning as it was going to bug me all day!IMG_1207.jpg.a70657bf9b15ded79e9aa160ea0ff97f.jpg

Very nice work sir! Looks really good, the darker roof looks much better IMO. Looking forward to it being completed.

Kind regards,

Will

Made a start on the weathering on 90048 - all basic airbrush work on so next up will be all the little details - IMG_1208.jpg.6e78c609414a285300487c048b4f40e5.jpg

Front end needs the windscreen cleaning, bit of buffer grease and a few scuffs and dings. The replacement buffers have fitted a treat

Added the wear to the windscreen pillars where the yellow has worn through

I saw 60074 first hand today, definitely dark grey sides with a black roof. Basically the same as the DCR locos, but with a darker grey.

Jo

Hi Jo, I think in just about there with the colours and envious you got to see it in the flesh - I haven’t seen a loco close up since before lockdown:sad_mini2: cheers Jerry

and lastly a close up of the decals and plate. Few stray bits of fluff from the decalling but will all be tidied up.IMG_1238.jpg.08d0eab49b82be37d266ff59051f8668.jpg

Stunning work Jerry. Not one I love in real life but the model looks really smart. Top work sir!

Thanks for the kind words Will. Not particularly my scene either but did it as an example of what I can do as I get Squirrel Rail ready for launch. It will be going on a well known auction site when it’s finished!

Fancied a lazy day after finishing Tug 74 so thought I would create a small stabling point to use as a backdrop for pictures. With a budget of zero and armed only with what was at hand in the workshop I have started to create the following based extremely roughly on the sidings at the end of Ipswich station. The idea is (was) to have three tracks with two having OHLE. The bank at Ipswich has end posts behind the buffer stops which would be fairly easy to replicate. IMG_1254.jpg.c1dda62d98ecd053f614504ebb55b312.jpg

Rough idea of where everything should go - base made for buffers stops which will be concrete as are the ramps. To make the bank at the back of these I found some aluminium mesh which has been secured with the hot glue gun

IMG_1255.jpg.3b4d4cda4c3c68f0cb19f05f782907f4.jpg

On the shelves was some seriously old two pack wood filler so with a judicious amount of hardener the bank has been roughly sculptured leaving the following horrible looking brown mess:mellow: Good thing is it is as hard as bullets so I will rub it down next time I'm at a loose end...

Lastly with detail on one end and a bit of buffer grease to finish off.
