Renumbering finished in the 67s and the the nameplates on 023- it was “fun” removing the larger printed ones...

Another 153, this time renumbered as 301, transfers from @railtec-models as with the 150 and 158

The 150 has had the exhaust repaired and a decent colour applied rather than the factory one tone rust

Looks great! Must admit, when funds allow I'm hoping to expand my unit collection. There's something really nice about these work worn DMUs ferrying people around the north. That exhaust looks superb also!

I wish there were more decals available for units or more models!....They make a great subject to work on and little details like the exhaust just bring them to life, will be a few more to do soon, cheers Jerry

I've decided on grabbing a Class 150 for respray into Transport for Wales livery!! (hopefully if Jerry can after my TFW 153's and soon 450 respray) Of course after the purchase of my GWR 150's when they do come out! Thinking of getting a Kernow FGW 150 as they are a bit more of a palatable price! Don't think you can go wrong with Class 150's or 153's although I think the rivets on the 153's are frustrating for respraying!!

Weathering and varnish this afternoon with 66522 and 90222 nearly at the finishing line. 522 is a challenge as it’s a really grotty machine but can look overdone - hope I’ve hit a happy medium..

and from the other side

As a respray from a Hattons freightliner 66 I’m pretty pleased with this and don’t think I have seen a Hattons Shanks 66 before!

90222 is the first RFD European 99 I’ve done so another off the list...

one job I wish I hadn’t had to do is the repairs to the RSH tank which postman Pat decided to stamp on, luckily he missed the other two!

The 3D print is really brittle, the cab fractured above the left buffer in a big arc and also across the left hand window. Here it is with all the parts back in place

9C63ABD9-4578-49E1-B603-463F802ED199.jpeg.cb32ffb5218725d0520bf0bc0caa0fb8.jpeg

and repainted, still need to tidy up the top of the buffer beam.

Last up a before and after. I’ve a pair of TFW 153s to refinish and they are horrible things to spray as getting a good mask over the rivets is a challenge. Here’s my first attempt- need to tweak the red a little and will most likely refinish the bottom line of the black- there’s no readily available TFW grey and grey is a pain to match so opinions welcome on the shade or suggestions on what is available off the shelf as a match!

Full squirrel rail day today so lots of progress with this lot!3B7B87CE-BFBC-4615-B52C-CAE324CA6156.jpeg.695086a6e541562fd41f73a2eae9c2b0.jpeg

47840 and 47569 have their numbers and paintwork done so will reassemble and add the etch tomorrow before 849 has a light weathering:

The Res NAAs have been recalled and had a coat of satin, the front one being the rescue, or should that be REScue job in my previous post!

The TFW 153s have had the toilet windows filled and the front one which will be 369 has had the grey band added between the red and the roof which is ( as far as I know) unique to this one. The one behind will be 312 which has had its grey sprayed today.

next up two HSTs, first N Gauge debrand and renumber,

and then back to OO with a bit of remedial work to alter the previous pain job where the blue stripe should have gone across the door and the varnish had discoloured over the white- here’s before;

and after with the revised blue;

hopefully get some more stuff done tomorrow!

Fertis, TFW and BR blue again today with the second TFW scud getting its window surrounds painted, not a great pic as it’s drying off in the tray and didn’t want paw prints on it!

Hi Jerry,

just had a very pleasant and inspirational few days reading through this thread, thank you. Fairly sure I will never match your levels of quality or productivity but feel the need to get on with some of the big pile of things I was getting around to on the workbench!

Thanks again for sharing all these excellent tips and ideas.

Hi Rich,

many thanks for the compliments and glad you enjoyed the thread. The productivity is due to Squirrel Rail being my business so nearly everything I post is customer work and my projects are reaching a pile of Everest size proportions!! Keep up your workbench as there’s some great stuff you are doing and I must admit to some envious glances at what you’re working on! Cheers Jerry

TFW scuds today. After a conflab with their owner we agreed to go for full refurb spec, I’d previously blanked a small window on one side but the shell still had 11 windows per side where as pics of the scuds show the first two windows plated leaving 9 on that side. It is also the home for a large T decal which I couldn’t put on a window! So excuse the long post here is today’s efforts...

Window blanks made and fitted in place-

next was to sort the interior, seats needed removing to make the toilet cubicle and the seats after the table on the top left needed to be reversed-

and here they are facing the right way

I then made the cubicle and this fitted into place, did this for both units-

Tamiya grey primer forms the base colour

before painting in the seats, red seat tops and tables

completed looks like this

Over the weekend I will get the windows into top coat so looking forward to getting those done.
