I use one of these magnifying LED lamps from Machine Mart.

It's ok I happened on an ex display one at a bargain price! I don't use the magnifier and if I try the lid keeps flapping closed at the wrong moment! - https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke-sam127-desk-mounted-magnifying-led-lamp/

Curious to see what others use...

For my work bench I use one of these

Expensive yes - but very good. Very good light and I can now see what I am doing.

I also considered this model

Thanks

I agree a quality light is worth paying for - I recently bought a high spec reading light and it is very good.

My work lights tend to get a slightly less easy ride though! Something to think about though.

I have this which was my Grandfather's workshop lamp, which he bought between the wars apparently, and with a modern LED bulb fitted is very good - I restored it in 2017 - It is a Herbert Terry model Model 1227 and has all its original features including the adjustable spring holders.

I have a Rolson Magnifying Visor, which I wear for high detail stuff, it has a little light but I never use it.

I decided I needed instant magnification so a quick look at reviews and a trip to a Hobbycraft convenientlya few miles away resulted in this...

which once home seems like a decent tool.

The magnifier - which I rarely use - seems pretty good and light is excellent.

...and I did a bit of "shopping"...new hot glue gun, some foam board, a Humbrol spray...luxury...

I'm using a bog standard Argos floor lamp but have fitted a 30w low energy daylight bulb (6400k). It kicks out 1900 lumens and illuminates the workbench perfectly. I have a separate head magnifier.
