RMweb Gold TravisM Posted July 14, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 14, 2020 I was wondering if there are any level crossings still about which just have the flashing lights and no barriers? I know they used to be in rural locations and down country roads or have they all been updated with half or full barriers?

That said I don't believe the ORR will let any new ones be put in now and following a number of accidents in Scotland, all of them in that country have now had half barriers retrofitted.
RMweb Gold Metr0Land Posted July 14, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 14, 2020 There's plenty down here on the Tenby-Pembroke branch and the Heart of Wales line Llanelli-Craven Arms but no flashing lights. Trains have to stop and give a long hoot before proceeding at a snail's pace. rev 43041_43160 Manorbier 12Aug17 1L90 PMB-PAD by Sarah S1ddons, on Flickr

Ohmisterporter
Added to level crossings are pedestrian crossings without barriers. The ones that I have used had warning notices alongside and are sited with good visibility in both directions; provided the hedgerows are kept trimmed.
