Sweep
Could anyone tell me the measurement between the width of the upright supports of the Airfix/Dapol canopy, I just want to see if they'd fit along my platform and just can't find the measurements anywhere. Thanks.

doilum
The canopy is 90mm wide. I guess the columns are 50mm apart. Measurements taken from a box of random parts left over from a factory roof build forty years ago. 1

RMweb Premium 31A Posted July 17, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 17, 2020 The centres of the uprights are 36mm apart, measuring across the platform. Lengthwise they are 75mm apart. Measured from the bits on my bench that I'm modifying for my layout!
RMweb Gold Geep7 Posted July 17, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 17, 2020 If platform width is an issue, you could always modify the uprights to be in the centre of the canopy, like I have done. The Dapol canopy is great for kitbashing. Excuse the wonky uprights, I just had it on the layout for a test fit. 3
Steamport Southport
Wonky Upright? Used to go to school with him..... They still stand up pretty well for something first made over sixty years ago. http://www.airfixrailways.co.uk/PlatCanopy.htm Jason

They certainly do, although they do have rather a lot of flash these days, so require a bit more work to neaten up.
