The other difficulty is a lot of model cars are the high performance type vehicles rather than the more general versions.

 

I wonder if the reason for a lack of post-2000 vehicles is down to licensing rights? Although I know the BMW MINI has been done.

Cararama made a few Non-performance versions of everyday vehicles at about 1/72 including the 2002 to 2008 vectra, Ford Fiesta c2005 model, Peugeot 206, Toyota RAV4, Volvo Coupes and estates, Saabs and others. Haven’t made new models since around 2008 so the vehicles are all around 10-15 year old prototypes now but great for the council estate or back alleys etc.
