PeteN92
I'm looking to source various fencing types to add to my Ilfracombe layout. When it comes to the SR concrete posts there seems to be plenty of choice with Ratio and Dart castings giving you a couple of options. What I am struggling to find is SR unclimbable fencing. I've seen others mention that some of the ratio stuff might pass off for this but when searching I couldn't see anything suitable. Langley models seem to do the right kind of fencing but they only seem to do that in N gauge. GWR Spear fencing is obviously different to the SR type however I guess you could cut the spears off? I am also trying to get hold of platform gates/ full height iron fencing as this was a prominent feature at Ilfracombe. Again having searched all the usual suspects I'm a bit stuck with the only potential solution being a custom laser cut/ using a silhouette cutter. All suggestions welcome and maybe this can help as an index for other SR Modellers. Cheers Pete
Nearholmer
I don't know what Geep7 used for the un-climable iron fencing around his substation, but it is a very good representation - not pin-accurate, but very close. https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/108506-west-sands-br-sr-electrified-south-coast-branch-terminus-circa-1968-70/page/20/ Ah, this might be it https://peco-uk.com/products/modern-palisade-fencing?_pos=16&_sid=666fa8af9&_ss=r But, is that they type of fencing you mean? I can't see anything quite that 'hardcore' in photos of Ilfracombe. What I can see looks like "traditional zoo cage" fencing. Would a finely-etched 7mm/ft wrought-iron fence, doubled-up by overlapping two layers to halve the spacing of the uprights, work?
