Yes. The far end of the layout is against a plain wall which would not look good in photos so I wanted to improve things. On a rare 2020 day out I took a few photos looking towards Exmouth standing on the estuary shore just below the railway near the first place you can cross the railway to get to the estuary east (or north) of Dawlish Warren. I then cut the photos out and stitched them together on a nice blue sky that  matched the rest of the backscene using a combination of free photoshopping apps Gimp and Paint.net. This was then printed and attached to the wall at the end of the layout; it looks much better than the plain wall.

At the risk of straying away from  topic this is a wider view of the layout to show how the backscene on the wall fits in to become an aid to taking realistic photos. The up platform edge needs some work to smooth it off, the ballast needs tidying and I reckon those sockets need to be IP68 rated! As an aside I'm very happy with the life size totem I included in the print. It somehow creates the right atmosphere in the railway room.

Unmistakable DW, only thing missing is the sound of gulls and the sea...

Lovely, Robin.

How long does it take Ben Ashworth to climb the tree and get down again, though?

And does he take a thermos with him, in case the train is late?

His patience is well rewarded as he catches 9440 heading west on an all stations stopper to Plymouth.

In Italy, on the Ligurian coast, an E483 heads west on a test run with a rake of XMPR Eurofima stock. In a few years, this single track section of line will become a bike path with the opening of a new double track alignment inland.

Evening everyone.

I’ve asked permission from my best friend Paul to post these photos of his nearly finished railway based on the missing section of the Okehampton to Plymouth route.
He’s not on here so I’ll send him the link in a minute. I can’t take the credit for his work but I have done a few bits and bobs on it to help and we would have shown it by now had things been different.

I love that last shot- forget the south-west, that looks like a winters shot of a diverted train on the Settle-Carlisle in the early 90's!  Brilliant :)
